The Best Switch and Switch 2 Deals to Grab During the Nintendo Play Together Sale
A new edition of the Play Together Sale has kicked off over on the Nintendo eShop, and as per usual, there are dozens of deals to sift through on some incredible games. While there aren’t any Switch 2-exclusive titles that receive any discounts, there are plenty of original Nintendo Switch games that are fully compatible on Nintendo’s latest handheld, making the Play Together sale a great time to grab a new game for your Switch 2 library if you happen to be running low on new titles to play. Most of the deals we’ve highlighted here will run until August 17 and see these titles down to some of their lowest-ever prices or back at a historical low.
Resident Evil
- Release Date — May 21, 2019
- Developer — Capcom Production Studio 4
- Publisher — Capcom
- Genre — Survival Horror
- Review Aggregate Score — 80%
- Price — $9.99 (Normally $19.99, 50% off)
The 2002 GameCube remake of Resident Evil is perhaps one of the best ways to experience the first title in Capcom’s most successful franchise, and it’s currently back down to its all-time low on the Nintendo eShop. The Resident Evil HD re-release of 2002’s Resident Evil is the same fantastic survival horror title it’s always been, and it also happens to be one of the best games you can grab for $10 or less.
Blasphemous 2
- Release Date — August 23, 2023
- Developer — The Game Kitchen
- Publisher — Team17
- Genre — Metroidvania, Soulslike
- Review Aggregate Score — 84%
- Price — $14.99 (Normally $29.99, 50% off)
The Game Kitchen has just released the excellent Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, which makes now one of the best times to go back and play the studio’s phenomenal Blasphemous games. While I personally prefer the first Blasphemous to its sequel, the sequel is arguably more accessible and a better-balanced experience in terms of both its combat and platforming. On the whole, Blasphemous 2 is one of the greatest modern Metroidvanias, and it’s currently 50% off as part of the Play Together Sale.
Tetris Effect: Connected
- Release Date — October 8, 2021
- Developer — Stage Games
- Publisher — Enhance Games
- Genre — Puzzle
- Review Aggregate Score — 94%
- Price — $19.99 (Normally $39.99, 50% off)
A handheld Nintendo console just doesn’t feel right without having a copy of Tetris on it, and the latest iteration of Tetris is one of the best versions of the game ever released. Tetris Effect: Connected is a phenomenal twist on the timeless Tetris formula that features incredible single-player and multiplayer modes, and it’s back down to its historical low on the eShop right now for just $20. With the release of the LEGO Game Boy just around the corner, it feels right to pay homage to the legacy of Tetris by picking up Tetris Effect: Connected.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge
- Release Date — June 16, 2022
- Developer — Tribute Games
- Publisher — Dotemu
- Genre — Beat ’em Up
- Review Aggregate Score — 85%
- Price — $14.99 (Normally $24.99, 40% off)
Tribute Games and Dotemu are teaming up once again on a new beat ’em up featuring characters from the Marvel Comics Universe, which makes the current sale on the duo’s last beat ’em up perfectly timed. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is one of the best modern games in the beat ’em up genre and an absolute blast whether playing solo or in co-op. It’s also back down to its previous sale price of $15, and you can grab all the excellent DLC at a hefty discount, too.
Diablo III: Eternal Collection
- Release Date — November 2, 2018
- Developer — Blizzard Entertainment, Iron Galaxy
- Publisher — Blizzard Entertainment
- Genre — ARPG
- Review Aggregate Score — 88%
- Price — $19.79 (Normally $59.99, 67% off)
During the early days of the Nintendo Switch, Diablo III: Eternal Collection was one of the best games on the platform, and there’s a strong argument that it still is. While there are plenty of people who understandably prefer Diablo II or even Diablo IV, Diablo III is still a massive and content-rich ARPG that has seemingly endless replay value, and the optimization of the Switch version is impressive. Diablo is great pretty much anywhere, but it’s especially great on the go, which makes its current $20 asking price feel like a steal.
Dead Cells
- Release Date — August 7, 2018
- Developer — Motion Twin
- Publisher — Motion Twin
- Genre — Action Roguelike
- Review Aggregate Score — 89%
- Price — $12.49 (Normally $24.99, 50% off)
Before it came to virtually every other platform, Dead Cells propelled to prominence within the action roguelike genre thanks to its Switch version, whose portability only helped it become more popular than it might have otherwise. A blend between an action roguelike and a Metroidvania, Dead Cells is one of the most enjoyable and endlessly replayable games of all time, and it’s now a complete experience that is practically an essential pick up for any Switch or Switch 2 owner’s library.
Rayman Legends
- Release Date — September 12, 2017
- Developer — Ubisoft Montpellier
- Publisher — Ubisoft
- Genre — Platformer
- Review Aggregate Score — 84%
- Price — $7.99 (Normally $39.99, 80% off)
When it comes to platformers on the Switch, most attention gets paid to the games starring Nintendo’s loveable mascot Mario. But just because the Switch has plenty of great Mario games doesn’t mean that players should ignore the other great platformers on the console, especially Ubisoft’s Rayman Legends. More than 10 years since its original release on the Wii U, Rayman Legends remains one of the most visually stunning and inventive 2D platformers ever made. You could do a lot worse for less than $10.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
- Release Date — November 20, 2020
- Developer — Omega Force
- Publisher — Nintendo
- Genre — Hack and Slash, Musou
- Review Aggregate Score — 78%
- Price — $41.99 (Normally $59.99, 30% off)
Blending hack-and-slash Dynasty Warriors-style musou gameplay with The Legend of Zelda was a near-perfect match that’s now yielded three games, and Age of Calamity is the perfect Hyrule Warriors primer to pick up before the highly anticipated Age of Imprisonment launches this winter. Age of Calamity impressively blends the expected hack-and-slash action that all the Warriors games are known for with the unique mechanics of Breath of the Wild, ultimately becoming one of the more interesting games to use the Dynasty Warriors formula. And on the Switch 2, its improved performance is a huge blessing.
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
- Release Date — August 29, 2017
- Developer — Ubisoft Milan, Ubisoft Paris
- Publisher — Nintendo
- Genre — Turn-based Tactics, TRPG
- Review Aggregate Score — 85%
- Price — $9.99 (Normally $39.99, 75% off)
You might not expect one of the best TRPGs on the Nintendo Switch to be a game starring characters from the Mario universe along with Ubisoft’s strange Rabbids, but Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is exactly that. Imagine a more kid-friendly XCOM 2 with a more forgiving difficulty curve, and you’re getting close to what Mario + Rabbids delivers. While it’s not back down to its lowest-ever price, it is currently a whopping 75% off and the best tactics game on Switch you can get for less than $10.
Mario Golf: Super Rush
- Release Date — June 25, 2021
- Developer — Camelot Software Planning
- Publisher — Nintendo
- Genre — Sports
- Review Aggregate Score — 70%
- Price — $39.99 (Normally $59.99, 33% off)
The amount of content on offer in Mario Golf: Super Rush would normally make its $60 asking price a bit of a big ask. But on sale? Mario Golf: Super Rush is more than worth grabbing at a nice discount. The latest iteration of the best of the Mario sports games is currently 33% off on the Nintendo eShop, bringing it down to its lowest-ever price of just $40. Who needs real golf when you can hit the links as Mario and his friends?
