The Big Switch 2 Games That Are Still Coming Out in 2025
The proliferation of the Switch 2 has been off to a bit of a slower start following its gargantuan launch day drop. It’s still next to impossible to find a console out in the wild, and the game library seems to be growing at a bit of a steady trickle rather than a flood of new titles. Thankfully, recent reports indicate that a Switch 2 will be easier to come by as we approach the holidays, with Nintendo purportedly ramping up production and planning to have store shelves stocked with consoles ahead of the big shopping season. Accordingly, the fall and winter release schedule is positively packed with high-profile Switch 2 games, many of which are either system exclusives or some of the most anticipated third-party ports to arrive for Nintendo’s new handheld.
Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar
- Release Date — August 27, 2025
- Developer — Marvelous
- Publisher — Marvelous, XSEED Games
- Genre — Farming Sim, RPG
Later this month, Marvelous and XSEED Games will be bringing Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar to Switch 2, along with its other launch platforms. This farming sim/RPG hybrid is a remake of an older game in the Story of Seasons franchise, which is most familiar to players under its original name: Harvest Moon. Considering how popular the “FarmPG” has become in recent years thanks to games like Stardew Valley, Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar should find a nice audience on Nintendo’s newest console.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World
- Release Date — August 28, 2025
- Developer — HAL Laboratory
- Publisher — Nintendo
- Genre — Action-Adventure, Platformer
Action-adventure and platforming game Kirby and the Forgotten World will be getting its very own Switch 2 edition later this month, too. Like Super Mario World 3D + Bowser’s Fury before it, the Switch 2 upgrade to Forgotten World includes the new Star-Crossed World expansion, which looks to add a significant chunk of gameplay to make the package more than just a visual and performance enhancement.
Star Wars Outlaws
- Release Date — September 4, 2025
- Developer — Massive Entertainment
- Publisher — Ubisoft
- Genre — Action-Adventure
The first major Switch 2 release of September is the console’s port of Star Wars Outlaws. Developed by The Division and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora studio Massive Entertainment, Star Wars Outlaws is the first open-world action-adventure game set in the Star Wars universe, and it takes a different approach from most Star Wars games by focusing on a space scoundrel rather than the Jedi. Massive Entertainment has continued to improve Star Wars Outlaws since launch with patches and performance improvements, which should hopefully indicate that the Switch 2 version will be in good shape at release.
Cronos: The New Dawn
- Release Date — September 5, 2025
- Developer — Bloober Team
- Publisher — Bloober Team
- Genre — Survival Horror
Just a day after the launch of Star Wars Outlaws, Switch 2 is getting two of its biggest games of the month, one of which is the latest original IP from Silent Hill 2 remake developer Bloober Team. Cronos: The New Dawn hasn’t been shy about its Dead Space influence, and Bloober Team’s recent track record seems to indicate that Cronos could be the first great survival horror game to arrive on the Switch 2.
Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion
- Release Date — September 5, 2025
- Developer — Marvelous First Studio
- Publisher — Marvelous
- Genre — Action, Shooter
The original Daemon X Machina was one of the Switch’s more interesting exclusives before it went multi-platform, and the sequel is arriving simultaneously on PC and Switch 2. Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion picks up after the events of the first game and features more mech customization and frantic gunfights in semi-open arenas, and from what’s been shown off in the trailers, it looks like it’ll be Switch 2 owners’ best bet for getting their Armored Core fix.
NBA 2K26
- Release Date — September 5, 2025
- Developer — Visual Concepts
- Publisher — 2K
- Genre — Sports
Electronic Arts is bringing all of its major sports franchises to the Switch 2, starting with Madden NFL 26 this week, and Visual Concepts/2K are following suit with their flagship sports simulation: NBA 2K. NBA 2K26 arrives on September 5th for PC and all modern platforms, including the Switch 2, but it remains to be seen how the Switch 2 version stacks up against the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S releases.
EA Sports FC 26
- Release Date — September 26, 2025
- Developer — EA Vancouver, EA Romania
- Publisher — Electronic Arts
- Genre — Sports
The EA Sports FC games have traditionally fared well on the original Nintendo Switch, so it’s no surprise to see Electronic Arts bring the latest iteration of the soccer simulator over to the Switch 2. There’s every chance that EA Sports FC 26 could become one of the year’s best-selling Switch 2 games if the Switch 2 version can facilitate the game’s popular online multiplayer and offer a comprehensive franchise mode experience.
Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac
- Release Date — September 26, 2025
- Developer — Now Production
- Publisher — Bandai Namco
- Genre — Platformer
Despite only having just been revealed, the remake of Pac-Man World 2 is coming to Switch 2 in just over a month on September 26. Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac is a modern remake/remaster of the beloved 3D platformer that should provide a hefty dose of nostalgia to older fans while also being enjoyable for newcomers.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles
- Release Date — September 30, 2025
- Developer — Square Enix
- Publisher — Square Enix
- Genre — TRPG
September’s most exciting Switch 2 game is the remaster of Final Fantasy Tactics, The Ivalice Chronicles. Square Enix opted to include not just the remastered content but also the full original PS1 version on a single cart, which makes Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles an essential pick-up for Switch 2 owners and RPG fans. Just having this classic playable on modern hardware is worth celebrating.
Borderlands 4
- Release Date — October 3, 2025
- Developer — Gearbox Software
- Publisher — 2K
- Genre — FPS, Looter Shooter
The Switch 2 is getting its own version of Borderlands 4 just a few weeks after other platforms on October 3. Given how successful the Borderlands franchise has been on the original Nintendo Switch (as well as how strong the ports of each game were), there’s every chance that the Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4 will quickly become one of the console’s must-have FPS titles.
Disgaea 7 Complete
- Release Date — October 10, 2025
- Developer — Nippon Ichi Software
- Publisher — NIS Ameria
- Genre — TRPG
Just under two weeks from the release of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, the Switch 2 is getting yet another classic TRPG with the release of Disgaea 7 Complete on October 10. Disgaea is a bit more difficult and grindy than more accessible TRPGs like Final Fantasy Tactics, but those who put in the time to learn its systems and intentionally grow their party will find it to be one of the more rewarding TRPG series there is.
Little Nightmares III
- Release Date — October 10, 2025
- Developer — Supermassive Games
- Publisher — Bandai Namco
- Genre — Platformer, Horror
The next entry in the Little Nightmares series launches on October 10 for all platforms, including Switch 2. Notably, it’s the first entry in the horror-tinged puzzle-platformer series to be developed by series newcomer Supermassive Games, which is taking a break from its Dark Pictures series to tackle Little Nightmares III. Despite the new development studio, though, Little Nightmares III looks like it’ll deliver similar thrills to the excellent first two games in the series. As a bonus, Switch 2 owners are getting a remastered version of the original Little Nightmares on the same day.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A
- Release Date — October 16, 2025
- Developer — Game Freak
- Publisher — Nintendo
- Genre — RPG
The biggest Switch 2 game arriving in October is Pokémon Legends: Z-A. This latest game in the Pokémon series is the follow-up to the much-loved Pokémon Legends: Arceus and features a similar twist to its combat that separates it from the mainline games in the series. Additionally, Pokémon Legends: Z-A makes a leap into the future over its predecessor, trading the rural pastures of the past Hisui region for the modern-day Kalos region.
Persona 3 Reload
- Release Date — October 23, 2025
- Developer — Atlus, P-Studio
- Publisher — Sega
- Genre — JRPG
A week after the launch of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Switch 2-owning RPG fans are getting another new game to look forward to with the console’s port of Persona 3 Reload. This remake of Persona 3 was one of 2024’s best RPGs and a reminder of how great the modern games in the Persona series are, but it remains to be seen whether the Switch 2 version will be some kind of definitive release that includes any of the post-launch DLC.
Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted
- Release Date — October 23, 2025
- Developer — PopCap Games
- Publisher — Electronic Arts
- Genre — Tower Defense
The recently announced remake of the original Plants vs. Zombies also arrives on October 23. This classic tower defense game has been rebuilt from the ground up with both solo and multiplayer in mind, and its new visual style honors the original while bringing it into the modern era.
Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake
- Release Date — October 30, 2025
- Developer — Square Enix, Artdink
- Publisher — Square Enix
- Genre — JRPG
One of the year’s most exciting RPG releases is the remake package containing the first two Dragon Quest games, and it’s arriving on Switch 2 the same day as other platforms. This remake compilation follows in the footsteps of last year’s Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake to deliver a modern take on the other two games in the series’ Erdrick Trilogy using the “HD-2D” art style popularized by Octopath Traveler.
Mina the Hollower
- Release Date — October 31, 2025
- Developer — Yacht Club Games
- Publisher — Yacht Club Games
- Genre — Action-Adventure
More than a decade since Shovel Knight‘s release, Yacht Club Games is back with its newest title, the long-awaited Mina the Hollower. This top-down action-adventure game feels like a mix between Castlevania and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, and it features the precise controls and gorgeous pixel art visuals you’d expect from the developers of Shovel Knight.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero
- Release Date — November 13, 2025
- Developer — Spike Chunsoft
- Publisher — Bandai Namco
- Genre — Fighting
There are only two major releases for the Switch 2 arriving in November, and they both happen to launch on the same day. First up is the new console’s version of Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, the latest in the long-running line of fighting games based on popular anime and manga Dragon Ball Z. This is one of a handful of titles that’s getting a release on the original Switch on the same day its Switch 2 port arrives, so it’ll be interesting to see how the two stack up against one another.
Yakuza Kiwami 2
- Release Date — November 13, 2025
- Developer — Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio
- Publisher — Sega
- Genre — Beat ’em Up, Action-Adventure
The other major Switch 2 game arriving on November 13 is the console’s version of Yakuza Kiwami 2. This remake of Yakuza 2 is often considered by series fans to be one of the best games in the series, so it’s nice to see it arrive on the Switch 2 following the console getting the equally great Yakuza 0. As a bonus, the remake of the original Yakuza, Yakuza Kiwami, is also getting a Switch 2 version on the same day.
Octopath Traveler 0
- Release Date — December 4, 2025
- Developer — Square Enix
- Publisher — Square Enix
- Genre — JRPG
As of the time of writing, the last major release for the Switch 2 with a confirmed launch date is the recently revealed Octopath Traveler 0. This latest game in the Octopath Traveler series is both a prequel to the first two games and a major departure from what came before, abandoning the traditional 8-character format in favor of a custom protagonist and a cast of 32 recruitable allies from which players can form their own unique 8-person party. On top of those changes, Octopath Traveler 0 also introduces a new town-building mini-game that looks like it could have a significant impact on different gameplay systems.
Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition
- Release Date — TBA 2025
- Developer — FromSoftware
- Publisher — FromSoftware, Bandai Namco
- Genre — Action RPG, Soulslike
We don’t know when exactly we’ll be getting Elden Ring on Switch 2, but we do know that it’s still on track to arrive at some point in 2025. Notably, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is going to be playable at Nintendo’s Gamescom booth, so we could very well have release date information as soon as next week.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
- Release Date — TBA 2025
- Developer — Retro Studios
- Publisher — Nintendo
- Genre — FPS, Metroidvania
Metroid Prime 4 is arguably the biggest first-party game to arrive on the Switch 2 in 2025, and we should hopefully know more about when to expect it after the game’s appearance and playable demo at Gamescom 2025. This title has been in development for well over a decade, so seeing it finally arrive as a cross-gen release with Switch 2 enhancements feels like a full-circle moment for Nintendo.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment
- Release Date — Winter 2025
- Developer — Koei Tecmo
- Publisher — Nintendo
- Genre — Hack and Slash, Musou
Another of the major first-party releases for this year is the Koei Tecmo-developed sequel to Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. Like Age of Calamity, Age of Imprisonment acts as a prequel to the Zelda game it connects to (in this case, Tears of the Kingdom) and is reportedly a canon entry in the series’ lore according to Nintendo. That alone should make it essential playing for Zelda fans.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade
- Release Date — Q4 2025
- Developer — Square Enix
- Publisher — Square Enix
- Genre — Action RPG
The last of the major AAA releases to receive a Switch 2 port is Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade, which has no set release date other than “Q4 2025”. But, like both Elden Ring and Metroid Prime 4, the Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade will be playable at Nintendo’s Gamescom booth, which should hopefully point to us getting a more concrete release window soon.
