Everything Announced at the September 2025 Sony State of Play
Less than 24 hours from the official start of Tokyo Game Show 2025, Sony kicked off a weekend that’s sure to be chock-full of exciting announcements with another installment of its State of Play showcases, this one focusing on titles arriving in early 2026 and beyond. The showcase kicked things off with an extended look at the previously revealed Saros, and then appropriately wrapped the event up with the biggest reveal of the show: Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games. Both titles look incredible, and they sandwiched a slew of other promising games arriving either at the back-end of 2025 or in the first quarter of next year.
Saros
- Release Date — March 20, 2026
- Developer — Housemarque
- Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
- Genre — Action, Shooter
Housemarque’s Saros finally got an extended look at its gameplay and — surprise! — it looks a lot like the studio’s last game, the excellent Returnal. Whether Saros will have roguelike elements like Returnal did is still unclear, but the slick movement and bullet-hell shooting are still front and center as the game’s biggest draw. No one does modern shooters quite like Housemarque, so it’s exciting to see what the studio’s next game has in store for us when it arrives next March.
Zero Parades (For Dead Spies)
- Release Date — TBA 2026
- Developer — ZA/UM
- Publisher — ZA/UM
- Genre — CRPG
Next up was a new trailer for the next CRPG from Disco Elysium developer ZA/UM. Titled No Parades (For Dead Spies), we already knew that this game existed thanks to Gamescom, but we finally got to see some of the gameplay in action, which seems to point to No Parades being a good bit different from Disco Elysium. While dialogue and narrative are still the focal point, No Parades seems to introduce combat encounters and some new systems related to them that will affect your playthrough.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
- Release Date — December 8, 2025
- Developer — Team Asobo
- Publisher — Xbox Game Studios
- Genre — Simulation
The next formerly Xbox-exclusive title to come to PS5 was revealed at the September State of Play to be Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, which is a big get for Sony. That said, the technological demands of a game like Flight Simulator make it almost a requirement to play it on a PS5 Pro, so it’ll be interesting to see how a base PS5 model handles it.
Battlefield 6
- Release Date — October 10, 2025
- Developer — DICE
- Publisher — Electronic Arts
- Genre — FPS
We got our first look at Battlefield 6‘s single-player campaign, which looks about as intense and gritty as you’d expect from the latest entry in DICE’s iconic military shooter franchise. With Call of Duty going all-in on its multiplayer, and even leaning into an in-universe “multiverse” with Black Ops 7‘s campaign, Battlefield 6‘s single-player mode feels refreshingly grounded and like the perfect thing to help Battlefield eke out the top honors for the year’s best military shooter.
Deus Ex Remastered
- Release Date — February 5, 2026
- Developer — Aspyr
- Publisher — Eidos Montreal
- Genre — FPS, Immersive Sim
One announcement that likely no one expected to see during the State of Play was the reveal of Deus Ex Remaster, a reimagining of the classic 2000 immersive sim exclusive to PlayStation 5 (at least at first). The remaster is being handled by Aspyr, which has a long and successful history of remastering and preserving other Eidos classics, making it a safe bet that Deus Ex Remastered will be a great new way to experience one of the best games ever made.
Halloween: The Game
- Release Date — September 8, 2026
- Developer — IllFonic
- Publisher — IllFonic, Gun Media
- Genre — Asymmetrical Multiplayer, Horror, Survival
Illfonic is at it again with yet another asymmetrical horror game, this time with John Carpenter’s Halloween as the license to carry it. Given how fun both Friday the 13th and Killer Clowns From Outer Space both are, Halloween: The Game should be every bit as fun for fans of tense, and occasionally hilarious, 1v4 multiplayer experiences.
Last Epoch
- Release Date — TBA
- Developer — Eleventh Hour Games
- Publisher — Eleventh Hour Games
- Genre — ARPG
After years of being exclusive to PC, ARPG Last Epoch is finally making its way to console gamers via the PS5. Better yet, Last Epoch is getting its first major DLC expansion on the day of its release, which will arrive alongside the base game. Fans of ARPGs like Diablo IV will have yet another excellent ARPG to get lost in with fun combat and some great build diversity.
The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin
- Release Date — January 28, 2026
- Developer — Netmarble F&C
- Publisher — Netmarble
- Genre — RPG, Action-Adventure
After its initial reveal earlier in the year, we got yet another look at upcoming action-adventure/RPG The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, based on the popular manga and anime of the same name. This latest trailer from the State of Play showcase focused on more gameplay than we’d previously seen, including an interesting implementation of co-op for some of the non-story-centric open-world activities.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Mega Man DLC
- Release Date — TBA 2026
- Developer — Sonic Team
- Publisher — Sega
- Genre — Driving/Racing
Sega and Sonic Team’s Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds comes out tomorrow, and to celebrate the game’s release, the publisher and developer took to the September State of Play showcase to announce the game’s first DLC featuring none other than Mega Man. The Mega Man DLC includes new drivers, new tracks, and plenty of other goodies that call back to Capcom’s iconic franchise, and it’s set to arrive at some point next year. Players who purchase the deluxe edition (which also grants them a few days’ early access) will have the Mega Man DLC available as soon as it launches since it’s part of the game’s Season Pass.
Nioh 3
- Release Date — February 6, 2026
- Developer — Team Ninja
- Publisher — Koei Tecmo
- Genre — Action RPG, Soulslike
Soulslike fans have been eating good recently, and it seems like the table is far from clear based on some of the announcements from the State of Play showcase. First up was Nioh 3, which, after its prior reveal earlier in the year, got a new gameplay trailer that also included the highly anticipated release date for the game. Players will finally get their hands on Team Ninja’s latest Soulslike early next year on February 6.
Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered
- Release Date — March 19, 2026
- Developer — Omega Force
- Publisher — Koei Tecmo
- Genre — Action, Hack-and-Slash, Musou
Koei Tecmo also dropped the bomb that it was working on a modern remaster of PS2 classic Dynasty Warriors 3, which many fans still consider to be one of the best games in the series. The Dynasty Warriors franchise’s comeback this year, courtesy of Origins, has inspired Omega Force and Koei Tecmo to reinvest in the series, and it’s hard to think of a better game to get players on board with that initiative than Dynasty Warriors 3.
Code Vein II
- Release Date — January 30, 2026
- Developer — Bandai Namco Studios
- Publisher — Bandai Namco Entertainment
- Genre — Action RPG, Soulslike
The other big Soulslike that PS5 owners have to look forward to next year is Code Vein II, which arrives on January 30 — just a week ahead of Nioh 3‘s February 6 launch date. The first Code Vein was an excellent vampire-themed anime soulslike that garnered a cult following thanks to its flexible buildcraft and more accessible difficulty, and Code Vein II already looks like it’ll be a step up from the original in just about every way.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles
- Release Date — September 30, 2025
- Developer — Square Enix
- Publisher — Square Enix
- Genre — TRPG
The director of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, joined the State of Play showcase to celebrate the launch of the remaster next week, right as review scores dropped for the game today indicating that it’s everything fans of the original could have wanted. This final trailer for the game, before its September 30 launch and place as one of Square Enix’s headline titles at Tokyo Game Show 2025, showed off the enhancements made to the game’s UI and gameplay in the remaster, proving that it’s a lot more than just a port of a PS1 classic to new hardware.
Let it Die: Inferno
- Release Date — December 3, 2025
- Developer — Grasshopper Manufacture
- Publisher — GungHo Online Entertainment
- Genre — Action Roguelike, Extraction, Survival
Next up was an interesting announcement for the next game in the Let it Die series. Dubbed Let it Die: Inferno, this newest spin-off title evolves the original’s battle royale formula into something more akin to a survival extraction shooter, only with an emphasis on melee combat instead of using ranged firearms. Otherwise, all the hallmarks you’d look for are there — players will need to scavenge gear, fight enemies, and even turn on other players to survive an inhospitable world teeming with threats in a PvPvE roguelike experience. This one almost looks like if ARC Raiders had been made by Suda-51.
Chronoscript: The Endless End
- Release Date — TBA 2026
- Developer — Deskworks
- Publisher — Shueisha Games
- Genre — Action Platformer, Metroidvania
One of the more surprising announcements during the State of Play was for Chronoscript: The Endless End, a new Metroidvania from fledgling studio Deskworks. The most arresting thing about the trailer was the game’s visuals, which use eye-catching art direction and unique animations to replicate what looks to be pages from a book or illuminated manuscript. If the gameplay elements can match the strength of its presentation, Chronoscript could be the next Metroidvania that fans look forward to most after finally getting their hands on Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Crimson Desert
- Release Date — March 19, 2026
- Developer — Pearl Abyss
- Publisher — Pearl Abyss
- Genre — Action RPG
Upcoming open-world action RPG Crimson Desert got yet another extended trailer as part of this most recent State of Play showcase, marking at least the second time this year the game has partnered with Sony to show off more of its exciting premise. If Crimson Desert can live up to even half of the potential shown off in the game’s trailers, it will likely end up being one of the greatest games in the genre and a massive hit for developer Pearl Abyss. We’ll know for sure when the game launches next March.
Pulse Elevate Wireless Speakers
Sony’s investment in PC gaming is going beyond just bringing PlayStation exclusives to Steam, with the company now releasing peripherals for PC gamers. We already saw the new fight stick that’s coming next year, and this most recent State of Play pulled the curtain back on the Pulse Elevate speakers that will be coming soon as well. These new wireless PC speakers promise to deliver flawless Pulse 3D audio and feature a sleek design that should fit nicely with any desktop setup.
PS Plus October Library
There are a ton of great games coming to PS Plus in October, all of which got a special shoutout during the State of Play showcase. The headline was, of course, for October’s free games, which all tiers of PS Plus subscribers can download and play for as long as they’re members. Alan Wake II is the marquee game (just in time for Halloween, too), and it’s joined by the excellent puzzler Cocoon and Goat Simulator 3. The other big highlights were the new games coming to the PS Plus Classics catalog, with iconic Namco fighters Tekken 3 and SoulCalibur III coming soon.
Gran Turismo 7 Spec III Update
- Release Date — December 2025
- Developer — Polyphony Digital
- Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
- Genre — Driving/Racing
After revealing the free games coming to PS Plus in October, Sony dropped another freebie courtesy of Polyphony Digital, with Gran Turismo‘s creator Kazunori Yamauchi announcing that the Spec III Update would be coming to Gran Turismo 7 this December and be free for all players. Gran Turismo celebrates the milestone of more than 100 million units sold across the series’ lifetime, and it’s giving away this most recent update (which includes plenty of requested gameplay tweaks, new cars, and more) as a way to say “thank you” to all the fans.
God of War 20th Anniversary DualSense Controller
Speakers weren’t the only new peripheral to get a reveal during the State of Play, with Sony showing off the next special edition of its DualSense PS5 controller to coincide with the 20th anniversary of God of War. This Kratos-themed DualSense looks great and will be sure to be a sought-after collector’s item, but hopefully it’s not all that Sony plans to do for the series’ 20th anniversary. Now, throw in a modern remaster of God of War and God of War II for PS5, and we’re talking.
Marvel’s Wolverine
- Release Date — Fall 2026
- Developer — Insomniac Games
- Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
- Genre — Action-Adventure
Sony closed off this State of Play showcase with a surprise extended reveal and behind-the-scenes look at Insomniac’s next game, Marvel’s Wolverine. We’ve known that Wolverine was in development for years, but Insomniac had been curiously silent about the game’s progress in the wake of the devastating hack that leaked much of the information about the game back in 2023. It looks like any fears we might have had about Wolverine were completely unfounded, as it reared its head in triumphant and bloody fashion today to show off a modern superhero game that looks very different from Insomniac’s Spider-Man titles. Next fall can’t come soon enough.
