Every Game New to Xbox Game Pass for September 2025
Microsoft continues to justify Game Pass’ reputation for being the “best deal in gaming” with its monthly lineup of additions to the service. September was chock full of incredible game releases, and a surprising number of them were day-and-date launches on Game Pass Ultimate, including one of the most highly anticipated and critically acclaimed games of the year: Hollow Knight: Silksong. While most of the best games on the service are now exclusive to the Ultimate tier of Game Pass, Game Pass Standard subscribers still had plenty to look forward to this month, and there are only a few titles leaving the service at the end of September.
I Am Your Beast
- Release Date — September 10, 2024
- Developer — Strange Scaffold
- Publisher — Strange Scaffold, Frosty Pop
- Review Aggregate Score — 79% (Generally Favorable)
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 2 (Game Pass Ultimate)
Strange Scaffold’s I Am Your Beast shot its way onto Game Pass early in the month as part of the Game Pass Ultimate tier for both PC and console, and it’s the perfect kind of game for the service. This first-person, speedrunning-based action game is all about taking out as many targets in a map as quickly as possible, and it’s a surprising amount of fun for as long as it lasts. I Am Your Beast‘s unique premise and shorter length make it a natural fit for Game Pass, and it’s great that the service will likely get more people to play it.
Nine Sols
- Release Date — May 28, 2024
- Developer — Red Candle Games
- Publisher — Red Candle Games
- Review Aggregate Score — 84% (Generally Favorable)
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 3
Hollow Knight: Silksong is far from the only incredible Metroidvania title to make its way onto the service this month, with last year’s Nine Sols also joining the service as part of the Game Pass Standard tier. If Hollow Knight and Hollow Knight: Silksong are what you get when you combine an incredible Metroidvania with Dark Souls, then Nine Sols is the same but with Sekiro, incorporating some of the best deflection-based sword combat ever seen in a 2D game. Nine Sols is one of the best modern Metroidvanias and a perfect title to accompany Silksong‘s launch onto Game Pass this month.
Cataclismo
- Release Date — March 20, 2025
- Developer — Digital Sun
- Publisher — Hooded Horse
- Review Aggregate Score — 82% (Generally Favorable)
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 4 (Game Pass for PC)
Voxel-based strategy and tower defense game Cataclismo released out of Early Access back in March of this year, and the title is now making its way onto Game Pass Ultimate for PC users. Digital Sun has a strong track record as one of the great indie developers working today, from both Moonlighter and its sequel to the surprisingly great Mageseeker, and Cataclismo is no different. It’s a brand-new genre for the studio to tackle, and they did a great job on their first attempt, making it worth checking out while it’s on Game Pass for PC.
Hollow Knight: Silksong
- Release Date — September 4, 2025
- Developer — Team Cherry
- Publisher — Team Cherry
- Review Aggregate Score — 92% (Universal Acclaim)
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 4 (Game Pass Ultimate)
Team Cherry’s decision to finally reveal Hollow Knight: Silksong‘s release date and then launch the game two weeks later sent shockwaves throughout the industry, not to mention breaking Steam and other digital storefronts once the game became available for purchase. That Microsoft was able to secure a deal to have the game available on Game Pass Ultimate at launch was huge, and it’s arguably one of the best reasons to go ahead and either renew a subscription or sign up, because you’ll be getting one of the year’s best games along with dozens of other incredible titles. Silksong being on Game Pass is a major get that illustrates the value of the service.
NHL 26
- Release Date — September 12, 2025
- Developer — EA Vancouver
- Publisher — Electronic Arts
- Review Aggregate Score — 69% (Mixed or Average)
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 5 (Game Pass Ultimate, Game Trial with EA Play)
While it’s not fully available on Game Pass, Electronic Arts’ NHL 26 can be played as an extended game trial thanks to EA Play’s partnership with Game Pass Ultimate. And with NHL 26 having some middling review scores since its launch on September 12, it seems like the game’s demo being available on Game Pass is a boon for players who might be on the fence about picking up the full game.
PAW Patrol World
- Release Date — September 29, 2023
- Developer — 3D Clouds
- Publisher — Outright Games
- Review Aggregate Score — 79% (Generally Favorable)
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 10 (Game Pass Ultimate)
PAW Patrol World is just one of Outright Games’ titles based on popular children’s shows to make its way to Game Pass this month, and it’s reportedly the best PAW Patrol game yet. These titles are mostly mindless fun that wouldn’t keep an older gamer entertained for too long, but they’re great for any younger gamers in the house, and a perfect title to be able to play with your budding gamer in co-op.
RoadCraft
- Release Date — May 20, 2025
- Developer — Saber Interactive
- Publisher — Focus Entertainment
- Review Aggregate Score — 78% (Generally Favorable)
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 16 (Game Pass Ultimate)
Saber Interactive’s RoadCraft made a splash earlier in the year with the trucking simulator crowd, and it arrived on Game Pass Ultimate for both console and PC earlier this month on September 16. RoadCraft is different from most other simulation/trucking games in that it tasks players with rebuilding disaster sites and restoring communities, making it one of the few “reconstruction” games on the market. If you’ve been curious about the simulation genre, RoadCraft could be a good on-ramp that’s virtually risk-free thanks to Game Pass.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
- Release Date — November 8, 2011
- Developer — Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games
- Publisher — Activision
- Review Aggregate Score — 88% (Generally Favorable)
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 17
Game Pass will typically add at least one classic game to the Game Pass Standard tier each month, pulling from the vast library of Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One titles that are playable on Xbox Series X/S. For September, that game is 2011’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which feels like the perfect title to whet the appetite for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7‘s launch in November. It’s not quite as iconic as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare or Modern Warfare 2, but Modern Warfare 3 is still a great Xbox 360-era shooter worth playing.
Commandos: Origins
- Release Date — April 9, 2025
- Developer — Claymore Game Studios
- Publisher — Kalypso Games
- Review Aggregate Score — 72% (Mixed or Average)
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 17 (Game Pass Ultimate)
Real-time tactics and stealth hybrid Commandos: Origins arrived earlier this year on PC and console, and it’s now available on Game Pass for Ultimate tier subscribers. Origins follows in the footsteps of the previous games in the Commandos series in terms of its gameplay, but it has the benefit of having some impressive visuals and presentation, thanks to its place as a modern title and continuation of the series. Fans of tense, tactical stealth encounters set during World War II should give Commandos: Origins a try while it’s on Game Pass.
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor
- Release Date — September 17, 2025
- Developer — Funday Games
- Publisher — Ghost Ship Publishing
- Review Aggregate Score — 86% (Generally Favorable)
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 17 (Game Pass Ultimate)
Since its release into Early Access, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor has been one of the greatest games in the budding “survivor-like” subgenre of action roguelikes, and its recent launch into 1.0 sees the game in its best state yet. It also happens to be a day-and-date release on Game Pass Ultimate, where it’s sure to find a large audience of both PC and console players looking for the next best thing post-Vampire Survivors. Honestly, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is so good that it’s almost worth the cost of a Game Pass Ultimate subscription on its own.
For the King 2
- Release Date — November 2, 2023
- Developer — IronOak Games
- Publisher — Curve Games
- Review Aggregate Score — 76% (Generally Favorable)
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 17
Any Game Pass subscribers who happen to be fans of RPGs and tabletop board games got a nice surprise this month with For the King II. As far as sequels go, For the King II takes everything that made the original For the King great and expands upon it, though it does lose some of the original’s balance in the process. Still, For the King II can be an absolute blast in co-op with some friends and is a great fit for the Game Pass service.
Overthrown
- Release Date — December 5, 2024
- Developer — Brimstone
- Publisher — Maximum Entertainment
- Review Aggregate Score — N/A (Early Access)
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 17
Although it’s still in Early Access, Overthrown made its way to Xbox via Game Pass, where it’s actually available as part of Game Pass Standard. Overthrown is an open-world city-building and survival game where it’s up to you to build, expand, and protect a fledgling kingdom from bandits and other outside threats, and it’s already gotten some decent praise on Steam. Seems like Game Pass could be a perfect way for fans of the genre to try it out before committing to supporting Overthrown in Early Access.
EA Sports FC 26
- Release Date — September 25, 2025
- Developer — EA Canada
- Publisher — Electronic Arts
- Review Aggregate Score — 82% (Generally Favorable)
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 18 (Game Pass Ultimate, Game Trial with EA Play)
Similar to NHL 26, Electronic Arts’ EA Sports FC 26 also arrived on Game Pass Ultimate with an extended game trial version. Players will be able to try out FC 26 before they buy and carry over any progress, which feels like a win-win proposition. FC 26 has already gotten some strong review scores since its release this week, pointing to it being one of the better games in the franchise since EA lost the FIFA license.
Frostpunk 2
- Release Date — September 18, 2025
- Developer — 11 bit studios
- Publisher — 11 bit studios
- Review Aggregate Score — 85% (Generally Favorable)
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 18 (Game Pass Ultimate)
On the same day that Frostpunk 2 made its console debut on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the title also became available on Game Pass Ultimate. Coincidentally, the console version of the original Frostpunk found some success on Game Pass, which makes the arrival of the sequel on the service a natural fit. Frostpunk 2 is also the second game this year from 11 bit studios to launch on Game Pass, alongside June’s The Alters.
Wobbly Life
- Release Date — September 18, 2025
- Developer — RubberBandGames
- Publisher — RubberBandGames
- Review Aggregate Score — N/A
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 18 (Game Pass Ultimate)
September 18 ended up being a big day for the Game Pass service, with a handful of games launching day-and-date with their retail releases on Game Pass Ultimate. Wobbly Life is one of those titles, which is a casual-friendly open-world sandbox game with some hilarious movement physics and some seamless co-op. Wobbly Life already has an impressive 97% “Overwhelmingly Positive” user review score on Steam, which seemingly points to it being a potential huge hit on Game Pass for anyone interested in checking it out.
Hades
- Release Date — August 13, 2021
- Developer — Supergiant Games
- Publisher — Supergiant Games
- Review Aggregate Score — 93% (Universal Acclaim)
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 19 (Game Pass Ultimate)
Although both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S owners are missing out on Hades II for the time being, at least Xbox owners can celebrate the original Hades making its way back onto Game Pass Ultimate. Hades II‘s release doesn’t discount its predecessor as one of the greatest action roguelikes ever made, because it absolutely still is.
Endless Legend II
- Release Date — September 22, 2025
- Developer — Amplitude Studios
- Publisher — Hooded Horse
- Review Aggregate Score — N/A (Early Access)
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 22 (Game Pass for PC)
Of all the PC-exclusive titles to make their way to Game Pass this month, the most exciting has to be Endless Legend II. This sequel to the excellent RTS/4X game from Amplitude Studios, Endless Legend II promises to be bigger and better than its predecessor and looks absolutely stunning. It’s already gotten some strong review scores over on Steam, where users are praising it as a worthy successor to the original, and its place on Game Pass gives players the chance to try it out risk-free.
Sworn
- Release Date — September 23, 2025
- Developer — Windwalk Games
- Publisher — Team17
- Review Aggregate Score — N/A
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 23 (Game Pass Ultimate)
Another new title to Game Pass to help ease the pain of Hades II being PC and Switch exclusive is Sworn. Sworn just recently exited Early Access and launched into 1.0, and it’s a surprisingly great action roguelike that feels like an Arthurian take on Hades. Notably, Sworn started off strong in Early Access, but its user review scores on Steam have waned slightly since its 1.0 launch, making Game Pass an ideal place to try it out before you spend $20 on it.
Peppa Pig: World Adventures
- Release Date — March 17, 2023
- Developer — Petoons Studio
- Publisher — Outright Games
- Review Aggregate Score — 72% (Mixed or Average)
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 25 (Game Pass Ultimate)
Joining PAW Patrol World as one of the more family-friendly offerings on Game Pass for September is Peppa Pig: World Adventures. This one also comes to us from Outright Games, which has a knack for making fun and digestible experiences for younger gamers featuring their favorite characters and IPs. This one is likely a safe bet for any Xbox owners with younger siblings or children of their own.
Terminull Brigade
- Release Date — July 29, 2025
- Developer — Pew Pew Games
- Publisher — Level Infinite
- Review Aggregate Score — N/A
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 25 (Game Pass for PC)
Online roguelike hero shooter Terminull Brigade slashes its way onto Game Pass this month as a PC-exclusive title. Given how mixed the player reception has been to Terminull Brigade, its arrival on a service like Game Pass is a huge blessing, though it’s worth noting that the title is already free-to-play and supported by microtransactions.
Visions of Mana
- Release Date — August 29, 2024
- Developer — Square Enix
- Publisher — Square Enix
- Review Aggregate Score — 75% (Generally Favorable)
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 25 (Game Pass Ultimate)
Square Enix has remained true to its commitment to bring over more of its titles to the Xbox ecosystem, to the point that it’s been readily adding games to the Game Pass Ultimate tier of the service. This month sees the excellent Visions of Mana making its way to Game Pass, where it’ll hopefully land for any fans of action RPGs that have yet to play it on another platform. Visions of Mana was a surprisingly great new entry in the long-running Mana/Seiken Densetsu series that deserves to be played by more people.
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
- Release Date — September 28, 2010
- Developer — Crystal Dynamics
- Publisher — Crystal Dynamics
- Review Aggregate Score — 85% (Generally Favorable)
- Xbox Game Pass Arrival Date — September 30 (Game Pass Ultimate)
Closing out September’s additions to Game Pass is Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, which holds up surprisingly well for a 15-year-old game. For those who’ve never played Guardian of Light or its sequel, these are isometric Tomb Raider games with a heavy emphasis on co-op play and cooperative combat and puzzle-solving, and they’re a ton of fun. Guardian of Light happens to be relatively short, to the point that you could probably complete it in an afternoon, which makes it a great game for Game Pass.
