The Best Deals to Grab This Weekend on the PlayStation Store’s Tokyo Game Show Sale
The Steam Autumn Sale may be the biggest grouping of deals that gamers have to look forward to for the next few days, but it’s far from the only one. Over on the PlayStation Store, there are currently hundreds of excellent deals on incredible games to take advantage of this weekend as part of the Tokyo Game Show 2025 sales event, which only runs until October 7. Most of the games in question come from Japanese developers and publishers (in honor of this year’s recent TGS event), but there are also plenty of other non-Japanese titles included, many of which are down to their lowest-ever prices on the PlayStation Store. The following games are ones we’d recommend picking up over the weekend while they’re still at a hefty discount.
Yakuza 0
- Release Date — March 12, 2015
- Developer — Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio
- Publisher — Sega
- Genre — Action-Adventure
- Review Aggregate Score — 85% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $10.99 (Normally $19.99, 45% off)
The Yakuza series is one of the more unique and enjoyable open-world franchises out there, but the sheer number of games can make it intimidating for an outsider to break in. While opinion varies on whether players should play the original Yakuza (or the remake, Yakuza Kiwami) and then go back and play Yakuza 0 or vice versa, we’d argue that starting with Yakuza 0 is an ideal place to get into the franchise, especially for how it lays the groundwork for the series’ most important characters and plot lines. Combat and story are the highlights of Yakuza 0, but rest assured that there are dozens of hours of zany side activities to indulge in — a staple of the Yakuza series as a whole.
Unicorn Overlord
- Release Date — March 8, 2024
- Developer — Vanillaware, Atlus
- Publisher — Sega
- Genre — TRPG
- Review Aggregate Score — 86% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $23.99 (Normally $59.99, 60% off)
This past week saw the launch of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, which may have players eagerly hunting down other great TRPG experiences. One of the best of the last several years is 2024’s Unicorn Overlord, which is currently down to its lowest-ever price of just $24 over on the PlayStation Store. Unicorn Overlord definitely skews more Ogre Battle versus Final Fantasy Tactics‘ obvious influence from Tactics Ogre, but there are a lot of similarities between the two that TRPG/SRPG fans are sure to love, not the least of which are an excellent story and an impressive amount of freedom with how you choose to approach each encounter.
Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters Bundle
- Release Date — April 19, 2023
- Developer — Square Enix, Tose
- Publisher — Square Enix
- Genre — JRPG
- Review Aggregate Score — 87% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $48.74 (Normally $74.99, 35% off)
Speaking of Final Fantasy, the remasters of the first six games in the franchise (dubbed the Pixel Remasters) are currently on sale for their best discount yet, down to just $49 for the whole bundle (roughly $8 per game). These titles are a great jumping-on point for anyone new to the franchise, or even a great history lesson in how the Final Fantasy franchise helped shape the foundations of the JRPG subgenre. And while the first three games in the series are made better than ever in their Pixel Remasters versions, it’s the 4th, 5th, and 6th Final Fantasy games that make picking up the bundle worth the price of admission all on their own. Truly one of the best deals you could grab on the PlayStation Store right now.
Onimusha 1+2
- Release Date — December 20, 2018 (Onimusha); May 23, 2025 (Onimusha 2)
- Developer — Capcom
- Publisher — Capcom
- Genre — Survival Horror, Action
- Review Aggregate Score — 73% (Onimusha); 75% (Onimusha 2)
- Price — $29.24 (Normally $38.99, 25% off)
Capcom has a ton of great games on sale as part of the Tokyo Game Show deals event, with one of the more exciting being the very new Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny. For many longtime fans of Capcom’s feudal Japan survival horror series, Onimusha 2 has long been the standout game, and its remaster from earlier this year does a great job preserving the core experience while bringing it to modern hardware.
You could get just Onimusha 2, but a current deal on a bundle that includes both it and the 2018 remaster of the first Onimusha is just too good to pass up, allowing players to grab both titles for less than $30. With the newest game in the series just around the corner, and a strong likelihood that the third and fourth Onimusha games will get the remaster treatment, now is a great time to get into the franchise.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake
- Release Date — November 14, 2024
- Developer — Artdink
- Publisher — Square Enix
- Genre — JRPG
- Review Aggregate Score — 84% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $38.99 (Normally $59.99, 35% off)
The end of this month will see the release of Square Enix and Artdink’s HD-2D remakes of the first and second Dragon Quest games, which canonically follow the story of last year’s excellent Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake to comprise the series’ Erdrick Trilogy. If you have even a slight interest in Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, you owe it to yourself to pick up the remake of Dragon Quest III. Not only is Dragon Quest III one of the best classic JRPGs of all time, the remake does an incredible job reimagining it in gorgeous HD-2D visuals and contains plenty of quality-of-life features that make it the definitive version of what many fans consider to be the greatest Dragon Quest game ever made.
Ninja Gaiden II Black
- Release Date — January 23, 2025
- Developer — Team Ninja
- Publisher — Koei Tecmo
- Genre — Action
- Review Aggregate Score — 80% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $29.99 (Normally $49.99, 40% off)
Along with the reveal that Ninja Gaiden 4 was coming (which will be here in just a few short weeks), Koei Tecmo surprised fans earlier this year with the shadow drop of Ninja Gaiden II Black, an Unreal Engine 5 remake of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. Mechanically, it’s still the same game as Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and lacks a lot of the punch of the original Xbox 360 version of Ninja Gaiden II. But visually, Ninja Gaiden II Black is a sight to behold, especially when it’s running at 60 FPS on a 4K display. As far as character action games go, they don’t get much better than Ninja Gaiden II, and Ninja Gaiden II Black feels like the new definitive edition of the 2008 classic, along with being the perfect warm-up for this month’s Ninja Gaiden 4.
The First Berserker: Khazan
- Release Date — March 27, 2025
- Developer — Neople
- Publisher — Nexon
- Genre — Action RPG, Soulslike
- Review Aggregate Score — 78% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $41.99 (Normally $59.99, 30% off)
There are quite a few great Soulslikes on sale on the PlayStation Store right now, Lies of P, Code Vein, and the Nioh games among them. But we’d suggest giving The First Berserker: Khazan a shot instead, especially while it’s down to its lowest-ever price of just $42 only a few months after its launch back in March. Khazan strikes a curious balance between a Soulslike and a character action game with its speed and focus on ultra-challenging boss fights, and it’s that combat emphasis that makes it a thoroughly enjoyable experience — even when you’re dying over and over again to the same ridiculously hard boss. Neople has also put in a ton of work to improve Khazan since launch, meaning anyone jumping in now is experiencing it in its ideal state.
Persona 3 Reload
- Release Date — February 2, 2024
- Developer — P-Studio, Atlus
- Publisher — Sega
- Genre — JRPG
- Review Aggregate Score — 87% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $31.49 (Normally $69.99, 55% off)
Of all the Persona games that are on sale on the PlayStation Store as part of the Tokyo Game Show event, Persona 3‘s deal has to be the best one to take advantage of, if for no other reason than to get it while it’s a whopping 55% off. Both Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal regularly go on sale for $20 or less, but Persona 3 Reload‘s status as a newer game makes its discounts both less pronounced and less frequent. Don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s somehow not yet another incredible JRPG, though, as Persona 3 Reload does a great job reimagining one of the series’ most important games while bringing its combat up to speed with the series’ pinnacle of Persona 5.
Resident Evil Remake Trilogy
- Release Date — January 25, 2019 (Resident Evil 2); April 3, 2020 (Resident Evil 3); March 24, 2023 (Resident Evil 4)
- Developer — Capcom
- Publisher — Capcom
- Genre — Survival Horror
- Review Aggregate Score — 91% (Resident Evil 2); 79% (Resident Evil 3); 93% (Resident Evil 4)
- Price — $40.49 (Normally $89.99, 55% off)
Why get just one of the Resident Evil remakes when you can get all three for a steal? Right now, Capcom has the entire Resident Evil Remake Trilogy bundle (which includes 2019’s Resident Evil 2 remake, 2020’s Resident Evil 3 remake, and the stellar 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4) for just $40, which comes out to less than $15 per game. All three of these modern remakes were hugely successful both in terms of commercial response and critical acclaim, with Resident Evil 2 largely responsible for laying the foundations of the modern survival horror remake trend (e.g., Dead Space, Silent Hill 2, etc.). Though Resident Evil 3 isn’t quite as good as the other two games, consider it a bonus for getting the top-notch remakes of the series’ second and fourth entries.
Monster Hunter Wilds
- Release Date — February 28, 2025
- Developer — Capcom
- Publisher — Capcom
- Genre — Action-Adventure
- Review Aggregate Score — 88% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $48.99 (Normally $69.99, 30% off)
Perhaps the most enticing of the Capcom deals available on the PlayStation Store right now is the current 30% off discount on Monster Hunter Wilds. Wilds got off to an incredibly strong start as one of the series’ (and Capcom’s) most successful games, only for player counts to quickly fall off afterward in the wake of it having a pretty thin endgame and some persistent performance issues on both PC and consoles. Thankfully, Capcom has been actively addressing both of those pain points, with Monster Hunter Wilds now set to get some exciting crossover content with Final Fantasy XIV in the coming weeks and hot off the launch of the new endgame-centric monster hunts. If you’ve waited to dive in, now might be the best time to grab Monster Hunter Wilds.
Dark Souls 3 Deluxe Edition
- Release Date — March 24, 2016
- Developer — FromSoftware
- Publisher — Bandai Namco
- Genre — Action RPG
- Review Aggregate Score — 89% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $42.49 (Normally $84.99, 50% off)
Almost all of FromSoftware’s games are currently on sale over on the PlayStation Store, but we’ve chosen to highlight Dark Souls III‘s Deluxe Edition as the best one you shouldn’t pass up. The Deluxe Edition of Dark Souls III includes both the entire base game and the season pass, which grants you access to two of FromSoftware’s best and most essential DLC expansions: The Ringed City and Ashes of Ariandel. Anyone who plays the Dark Souls games to experience some of the best-designed boss encounters in the medium absolutely needs to consider picking up the DLC for Dark Souls III, and the Deluxe Edition makes that a no-brainer with its current 50% off discount (getting $30 worth of DLC for just $12 more than the base game).
Diablo IV Expansion Bundle
- Release Date — June 5, 2023
- Developer — Blizzard Team 3, Blizzard Albany
- Publisher — Blizzard Entertainment
- Genre — ARPG
- Review Aggregate Score — 86% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $34.99 (Normally $69.99, 50% off)
Since its release, Diablo IV has had its ups and downs as Blizzard works to address the needs and wants of the community, but it seems like, by and large, Diablo IV is in a great place now as we’re right in the thick of Season 10. That makes right now one of the best times to pick up the Expansion Bundle that includes both Diablo IV and the Vessel of Hatred expansion, giving you plenty of time to roll a new character and make it through the campaign before diving into Season 10. You’d honestly be hard-pressed to find another deal on the PlayStation Store (or anywhere else, really) that provides thousands of hours of potential gameplay for just $35.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero
- Release Date — October 10, 2024
- Developer — Spike Chunsoft
- Publisher — Bandai Namco Entertainment
- Genre — Fighting
- Review Aggregate Score — 81% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $39.89 (Normally $69.99, 43% off)
Advancements in technology have made it so that Dragon Ball Z fighting games are almost indistinguishable from watching an episode of the anime, and Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero backs up its jaw-dropping presentation with some impressive mechanics. More than just a “newer, shinier” version of a Dragon Ball Z fighting game to follow in the footsteps of the excellent Dragon Ball FighterZ, Sparking! Zero feels like a genuine evolution of the Dragon Ball Z series’ fighting game formula, and its current 43% discount sees it down to its lowest-ever price on the PlayStation Store.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows
- Release Date — March 20, 2025
- Developer — Ubisoft Quebec
- Publisher — Ubisoft
- Genre — Action-Adventure, Stealth
- Review Aggregate Score — 81% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $41.99 (Normally $69.99, 40% off)
You might be seeing this and thinking, “Didn’t Ghost of Yotei just launch?”, but hear me out. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is arguably the best that the Assassin’s Creed series has been since Odyssey and a fun romp through open-world feudal Japan that doesn’t overstay its welcome. Compared to the 200-hour + Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Shadows‘ 45-hour campaign feels downright refreshing. There’s been no shortage of excellent open-world games set in historical Japan over the last few years, but Assassin’s Creed Shadows does enough to stand out as being a worthwhile experience even when stacked up against the likes of Rise of the Ronin or Ghost of Yotei, especially if you can grab it at a discount.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
- Release Date — June 26, 2025
- Developer — Kojima Productions
- Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
- Genre — Action-Adventure, Stealth
- Review Aggregate Score — 89% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $59.49 (Normally $69.99, 15% off)
The deal on Death Stranding 2 is one of the weaker discounts available on the PlayStation Store right now, but getting any discount on such a new PS5-exclusive title is at least worth mentioning. It helps that Death Stranding 2 is a much more enjoyable experience than the first game, bringing better combat and exploration to the table, even if its story sometimes overreaches in its scope. With Death Stranding 2 being exclusive to the PlayStation 5 for the foreseeable future, it’s likely we won’t see it get too deep of a discount for quite some time, which makes its current 15% off deal one of the best times to pick it up if you’ve held off until now.
