Yesterday saw fans receive another glimpse at The Witcher 4 courtesy of an Unreal Engine tech showcase.
Consisting of just under an hour, the Unreal Engine tech demo consisted of some of its developers showcasing how The Witcher 4 is coming along and despite it still being in the early stages of development, it is safe to say that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt sequel is looking incredible.
Fans got to see our new Witcher, Ciri, as she explored the new region of Kovir alongside her horse Kelpie. We got to see beautiful mountains, lush forests, and dimly lit caves as Ciri slowly made her way to a nearby fishing village.
It was here that the developers got to showcase how dynamic the environment is by taking us through NPCs, crowds, and contracts that Ciri will be able to take on but it was clear to see that the graphics were incredible.
Especially as The Witcher 4 was running on a standard PlayStation 5 at 60fps using Unreal Engine 5.
However, some CD Projekt RED fans are feeling hesitant as we all remember how incredible Cyberpunk 2077 looked ahead of its launch.
With the new The Witcher 4 content being a tech demo instead of actual gameplay, many will expect the game to look a lot different upon launch and they took to r/PS5 to share their thoughts.
“I’m not trusting CDPR until it launches and the tech reports are positive,” user YasuhiroK revealed.
User Phantastiz agreed, adding, “Never forget how a representative of CD Project claimed Cyberpunk 2077 would run “surprisingly well” on 8th generation consoles, when at release it was a complete technical disaster with frequent crashes, bugs and gameplay that would usually reach 20 fps.”
Of course, we can expect that CDPR has learned its lesson by now and technology has advanced quite substantially since Cyberpunk 2077 was released back in 2020.
However, it is a reasonable concern and it seems as though The Witcher 4 will have to prove itself closer to its launch before people commit to purchasing it.
