Every Switch 2 Game Confirmed to Be at Nintendo’s Gamescom Booth
After a round of smaller, more focused gaming showcases to kick off the summer, all eyes are now on the fast-approaching Gamescom convention in Cologne, Germany. Nintendo will once again be bringing a booth to Gamescom to show off a slew of both first and third-party games for its latest console, the Switch 2, and some of them are going to be playable for the first time. The highlight is arguably Hollow Knight: Silksong, which is getting its first playable demo in many, many years ahead of its supposed release later in 2025, but it’s also interesting to see that both the Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4 and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will each be playable for the first time.
Borderlands 4
- Release Date — October 3, 2025
- Developer — Gearbox Software
- Publisher — 2K
- Genre — FPS, Looter Shooter
Gearbox’s latest entry in the Borderlands franchise is making its way to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on September 12, but it won’t be hitting the Switch 2 until a few weeks later on October 3. But to put minds at ease, Nintendo and Gearbox have partnered up to bring a playable version of the game to Gamescom, where it’ll likely be one of the more popular titles to test out and see how the Switch 2 handles this latest entry in the beloved looter shooter series. Given how great the Switch 2 versions of other modern AAA titles have been, it’s a safe bet that the console’s version of Borderlands 4 will be comparable to other consoles.
Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition
- Release Date — June 5, 2025
- Developer — CD Projekt RED
- Publisher — CD Projekt RED
- Genre — FPS, Action RPG
- Review Aggregate Score — 84% (Generally Favorable)
There are a handful of previously released titles that Nintendo is bringing to Gamescom to help show off the technical prowess of the Switch 2, one of which is the console’s version of Cyberpunk 2077. Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is one of the most technically impressive games on the Switch 2. Not only does the game look and run great on the console, whether playing in docked or handheld modes, it also is a great showcase for the appeal of the Joy Con 2’s mouse functionality and the Switch 2’s place as a strong home for FPS experiences.
Donkey Kong Bananza
- Release Date — July 17, 2025
- Developer — Nintendo EPD
- Publisher — Nintendo
- Genre — Platformer
- Review Aggregate Score — 91% (Universal Acclaim)
Donkey Kong Bananza has been a massive success for Nintendo and the Switch 2, so it’s no surprise to see the game get a spot at the company’s Gamescom booth. Bananza is the first 3D game in the Donkey Kong series since Donkey Kong 64 and has been a hit both in terms of its critical and commercial reception. It’s no surprise why, as it’s yet another fantastic 3D platformer from some of the same minds that worked on Super Mario Odyssey.
EA Sports FC26
- Release Date — September 26, 2025
- Developer — EA Vancouver
- Publisher — Electronic Arts
- Genre — Sports
Electronic Arts is committed to bringing the latest versions of all its sports titles to the Switch 2, starting with the next game in its professional soccer simulator, FC 26. The Switch 2 version of FC 26 will actually arrive on the Switch 2 at the same time it hits PC and other consoles, making it one of the first AAA third-party titles to do so. Given how popular soccer/futbol is in Europe, it’s a no-brainer for Nintendo to have FC 26 in tow at Gamescom to help draw a massive crowd over to its booth.
Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition
- Release Date — TBA 2025
- Developer — FromSoftware
- Publisher — Bandai Namco
- Genre — Action RPG, Open-World, Soulslike
We already knew that FromSoftware would be bringing Elden Ring to the Switch 2 at some point shortly after the system’s launch, and now we know that it will be playable for the first time at Nintendo’s Gamescom booth. But we still have a lot of questions about Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition that will hopefully be answered by hands-on impressions. Will it run at 60FPS? What extra or original content does it include? Will it feature the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, or will that possibly become available on Switch 2 at a later date? We should get answers to these queries and more in just a couple weeks once players get their hands on the Tarnished Edition of Elden Ring.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade
- Release Date — TBA 2025
- Developer — Square Enix Business Division 1
- Publisher — Square Enix
- Genre — Action RPG
Like Elden Ring, Nintendo had previously announced that the Switch 2 would get its own version of Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade, and it’ll be playable for the first time at Nintendo’s Gamescom booth. Square Enix’s support of the Switch 2 has been strong right out of the gate, with launch titles like Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster and upcoming highlights like next year’s The Adventures of Elliot, so it’s probably safe to assume that the company will deliver a stellar port of Final Fantasy VII Remake that does the game justice (and will probably do the same with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth).
GameCube Classics
- Release Date — June 5, 2025
- Developer — Various
- Publisher — Various
- Genre — Various
While we don’t know exactly which games Nintendo will be bringing to Gamescom as part of the Nintendo GameCube Classics collection for Switch Online, we do know that it plans to have “multiple” titles playable at its booth. Hopefully, we’ll get some insight regarding which titles are coming to the service in the next few months, which already has 4 of the best games on the console readily available. Fingers crossed, the next few months of new games will add classics like Eternal Darkness or Star Fox Adventures.
Hades II
- Release Date — TBA 2025
- Developer — Supergiant Games
- Publisher — Supergiant Games
- Genre — Action Roguelike
Supergiant Games is prepping for the 1.0 launch of Hades II, which already feels like it’s ready after its latest update. Once it does, it’ll be coming to Switch 2, which is a perfect fit for the title given how popular Hades was on the original Nintendo Switch. The Switch 2 version of Hades II will be playable for the first time at Gamescom over at Nintendo’s booth, where we’ll get our first sense of how well the title runs on the console and what will be different between its most current version on PC and the 1.0 release.
Hollow Knight: Silksong
- Release Date — TBA 2025
- Developer — Team Cherry
- Publisher — Team Cherry
- Genre — Metroidvania
This is the big one. One of the most exciting announcements about Gamescom 2025 is that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable to the public, and it’ll be available at both Nintendo and Microsoft’s booths. The original Hollow Knight found a strong footing on the Switch, so it feels like a full circle moment (and a reminder of how long it’s been in development) that players will get to experience Silksong for the first time on the Switch 2. We’re supposedly gearing up for the game’s actual release, but we’ll believe that when we see it (and once we get some insight as to whether Silksong lives up to its hype).
Mario Kart World
- Release Date — June 5, 2025
- Developer — Nintendo EPD
- Publisher — Nintendo
- Genre — Driving/Racing
- Review Aggregate Score — 86% (Generally Favorable)
Another of the previously released games that will be playable at Nintendo’s Gamescom booth is Mario Kart World. Like Donkey Kong Bananza, it makes sense for Mario Kart World to be there as one of the Switch 2’s flagship first-party titles, and it’s a great showcase for what the system is capable of.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
- Release Date — TBA 2025
- Developer — Retro Studios
- Publisher — Nintendo
- Genre — FPS, Metroidvania
Other than Silksong‘s playable demo, the most exciting inclusion at Nintendo’s booth will be Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. The fourth entry in the Metroid Prime series has clawed its way back from the depths of development hell to become one of the Switch 2’s most anticipated games, and getting hands-on impressions of the title is sure to only whet the appetite of excited fans even more. With any luck, the inclusion of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is a sign that Nintendo may announce the game’s official release date at Gamescom.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A
- Release Date — October 16, 2025
- Developer — Game Freak
- Publisher — Nintendo
- Genre — RPG
With the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A just a couple of months away, it’s a perfect title to be playable at Gamescom to help drum up hype for its launch. The recent Pokémon Presents showcase hosted by Nintendo showed off an extended look at the title that made it seem like it would be a strong follow-up to the excellent Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and a new Pokémon game is always a sure bet for Nintendo.
Super Mario Party Jamboree
- Release Date — July 24, 2025
- Developer — Nintendo Cube
- Publisher — Nintendo
- Genre — Party
- Review Aggregate Score — 77% (Generally Favorable)
The last of the previously released games playable at Nintendo’s Gamescom booth is Super Mario Party Jamboree. This latest Mario Party game is a great entry that calls back to some of the series’ best titles on the Nintendo 64, and its Switch 2 version includes plenty of new features (such as support for Game Chat and the Switch 2 camera) that will be fun to see in action at Gamescom.
