Everything Announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live
While the showcase itself actually began a few days ago for most developers and some industry personnel, today marked the official public opening of Gamescom. Coinciding with the official start of attendees being able to peruse the show floor and try out demos for new and upcoming titles, Gamescom held its Opening Night Live ceremony, hosted by The Game Awards’ Geoff Keighley. As is typically the case, there were a staggering number of exciting announcements that arrived during the more than 2-hour opening event, so let’s take a look at everything that was revealed or given an update.
Hollow Knight: Silksong

Wasting no time, Keighley kicked off Opening Night Live with the confirmation that Hollow Knight: Silksong is indeed real, is playable at Gamescom for attendees, and will 100% be arriving before the end of 2025. Expect an official release date announcement from Team Cherry on August 21 based on the studio’s recent comments.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7

After the Silksong bombshell, players were treated to more footage of this year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, with an extended look at the campaign and how it ties together locations and eras from throughout the Black Ops series.
Lords of the Fallen II

As promised by developer CI Games, Lords of the Fallen II got its debut trailer during Gamescom Opening Night Live. Set 100 years after the events of 2023’s Lords of the Fallen, the sequel will be getting its first gameplay reveal later this year ahead of its 2026 launch.
Sekiro: No Defeat

Out of the handful of non-game-related announcements during One Night Live, one of the most exciting was the debut trailer for the anime based on FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Dubbed Sekiro: No Defeat, the series will be streaming exclusively on Crunchyroll when it arrives in 2026.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight

Traveller’s Tales is taking a similar approach to LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga with its next game in the LEGO Batman series, with Legacy of the Dark Knight tying together multiple different Batman stories from across the comics, films, and animated series, and featuring some combat that looks strikingly similar to the Batman: Arkham games.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV

The next announcement at the showcase was one to get both Warhammer and RTS fans excited, with the long-awaited Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV arriving sometime next year. Given the Warhammer series’ recent boost in popularity, it’s great to see the franchise return to a line of games as beloved as the Dawn of War titles.
Monster Hunter Wilds x Final Fantasy XIV

Just like the two companies did with Monster Hunter World, Capcom and Square Enix are working together on a Monster Hunter Wilds and Final Fantasy XIV crossover set to arrive this October. Players can get excited for new mounts, new monsters, and even new content in Final Fantasy XIV to commemorate the collaboration.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Capcom’s next game in the Onimusha series continues to look incredible, with the title getting a new trailer and an extended look at its gameplay during Gamescom Opening Night Live. From what was shown off, Onimusha: Way of the Sword is already shaping up to be one of 2026’s highlights.
Arknights: Endfield

There were quite a few action RPG/gacha games shown off during Opening Night Live, with the first of them being Arknights: Endfield. What’s interesting about this one, though, is that it contains an automation/factory management gameplay loop similar to games like Satisfactory or Factorio. It’s unique genre territory for a gacha game.
Europa Universalis V

Paradox Interactive finally dropped the reveal trailer for the next game in the popular grand strategy series, Europa Universalis, with Europa Universalis V arriving later this year on November 4.
Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion

The sequel to Daemon X Machina, Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion, got a new trailer and an extended look at its gameplay as part of the Opening Night Live showcase, and it continues to look like it’ll be a must-play for both fans of the original and the Armored Core series. Best of all, the game is coming to all platforms this go around, not just PC and Nintendo Switch.
VOID/BREAKER

After wowing thousands of players with its Steam Next Fest demo, FPS roguelike game VOID/BREAKER debuted a new trailer and announced a shadow-drop at Gamescom, with the title available now on Steam in Early Access.
Fallout

After a teaser for the second season went live last week, showrunners and members of the cast for Amazon’s Fallout series took to the Gamescom Opening Night Live stage to talk a bit about Season 2 and provide the world premiere of the trailer. Not only did we get to see where the characters’ story might take them, we finally got confirmation that the second season is going to cover some territory from Fallout: New Vegas (including introducing us to Mr. House!!).
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants

The upcoming Order of the Giants DLC for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle got an exciting new trailer as part of Gamescom, but that’s not all. At the end of the trailer, Bethesda dropped the bomb that both the base game and its DLC would be coming to Switch 2 in 2026.
Deadpool VR

We previously got a brief glimpse of Marvel and Twisted Pixel’s upcoming Deadpool VR game earlier this year, and at Opening Night Live, we got an extended look at the title’s rogue’s gallery, gameplay, and story. This may very well be the biggest VR release of the year.
World of Tanks 2.0

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando

A longtime avid gamer, legendary director John Carpenter is finally venturing into the world of game development with his own take on the first-person shooter, and John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando finally gave players a glimpse of its gameplay in its newest trailer. It’s just as insane as you’d expect from the director of films like Escape From New York and Big Trouble in Little China.
Death By Scrolling

Legendary game developer Ron Gilbert is back at it with Death By Scrolling, a top-down action RPG roguelike in which you have to stay on the move or face the Grim Reaper. No firm release date yet, but it already looks like it could be a hit among roguelike fans when it arrives.
Zero Parades

Following the release of the critically acclaimed and groundbreaking RPG Disco Elysium, developer ZA/UM was tangled up in legal issues stemming from its parent company and the departure of key staff. Thankfully, it seems like those issues have now been resolved, as we finally got the debut trailer for the studio’s follow-up, Zero Parades. Based on the trailer, this looks like another thought-provoking, narrative-led RPG experience with plenty of challenging themes and incredible art.
Neverness to Everness

Upcoming music/rhythm game Unbeatable got both a new trailer at Gamescom and the surprise drop of a playable demo on Steam, giving players the chance to check out this heartfelt title about a future in which music is illegal ahead of its November release.
Honor of Kings: World

After the Ninja Gaiden 4 trailer, NCSOFT debuted two new upcoming projects, the first of them being the intriguing Cinder City. This MMO tactical shooter blends elements from a lot of different genres in its moment-to-moment gameplay and enemy types, and it’s already looking like the kind of game that could become a huge hit with fans of the genre.

Silent Hill f

La Divina Comeddia

One of the more exciting reveals to come completely out of left field was the debut trailer for La Divina Comeddia, the next action RPG/Soulslike from Enotria developer Jyamma Games. No further info available on this one yet other than what was in the trailer, but it looks like it could be a strong follow-up to the studio’s previous Soulslike.
Cronos: The New Dawn

Bloober Team’s Cronos: The New Dawn is just a few weeks away now, which primed it for a new trailer highlighting both its story and gameplay at Gamescom. As per usual, Cronos continues to look like one of the most exciting upcoming horror games and a must for fans of Dead Space.
The Outer Worlds 2

Smash-hit roguelike Cult of the Lamb is getting a massive new DLC in the form of Woolhaven sometime next year, and it appears to contain everything players love about the base game — insane bosses, frantic hack-and-slash gameplay, and plenty of gallows humor as you care for and sacrifice the members of your cult to an eldritch deity.
World of Warcraft: Midnight

In addition to continually working on Delta Force and porting it to consoles, Team Jade has a new title in the works with Project Spectrum. This PvEvP tactical shooter is heavily influenced by survival horror, and its debut trailer showed off plenty of story and gameplay to make it seem like an interesting combination worth keeping an eye on.
World of Tanks: Heat

Not only is World of Tanks about to drop its biggest update yet with the release of WoT 2.0, it also has a new spin-off game in the works with World of Tanks: HEAT. This 10-player free-for-all is like a cross between World of Tanks and Twisted Metal that focuses on speed and action more than historical accuracy and realism.
Ghost of Yotei

The final leg of Gamescom’s Opening Night Live celebration was host to a trio of trailers for some of the most anticipated upcoming releases, the first of which was a new extended look at Ghost of Yotei. This trailer focused more on story than gameplay, and it seems like it’ll contain every bit the compelling narrative as its predecessor.
Resident Evil Requiem

After an initial teaser trailer at Summer Game Fest, Resident Evil Requiem revealed its first gameplay in a new clip that focused on protagonist Grace Ashcroft and her backstory as she attempts to escape capture with her mother. We already can’t wait to find out more after this newest footage.
Black Myth: Zhong Kui

In typical Geoff Keighley fashion, Gamescom Opening Night Live saved one of the biggest and most unexpected reveals for last, closing things out with the debut trailer for Game Science’s Black Myth: Zhong Kui. This is another action RPG that focuses on a popular myth from Chinese folklore, but Game Science also assured attendees that Sun Wukong’s story is not done, meaning Zhong Kui could be a spin-off to tide fans over before Wukong‘s sequel.
