Game Releases This Week – July 7, 2025 to July 11, 2025
Last week may have let us off easy, thanks to the encroaching holiday weekend and cooling-off period from a stacked June, but this week is right back at it with a packed slate of game releases. The biggest releases arriving this week are two sports titles that fans have been highly anticipating for months now, with EA Sports College Football 26 dropping on Tuesday and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 not far behind on Friday. But sports games are far from the only highlights this week, as there are plenty of other new games to get excited about in a wide variety of genres, from shooters and turn-based tactics games to the revival of a beloved music/rhythm franchise we haven’t seen since the PSP.
Backyard Baseball ’01
- Release Date — July 8, 2025
- Developer — Mega Cat Studios
- Publisher — Playground Productions
- Genre — Sports
- Platforms — Android, iOS, PC’
The Backyard Baseball games are certified cult classics that are remembered fondly by those who grew up with them, and one of the best entries in the series is now set to get a modern re-release. Backyard Baseball ’01 had previously been nigh-unplayable on modern hardware configurations using any legal methods, but that changes this week once it arrives for PC via Steam and on both Android and iOS mobile devices. You could hardly find a better low-stakes baseball simulation.
Missile Command Delta
- Release Date — July 8, 2025
- Developer — Mighty Yell, 13AM Games
- Publisher — Atari
- Genre — Turn-Based Tactics, Strategy
- Platforms — PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
Atari has been doing some interesting things with its classic IP over the last few years, from a new Yars Revenge game that’s a Metroidvania to this week’s release of its Missile Command reboot, Missile Command Delta. Players can still expect plenty of tactical and strategic depth as they try to protect their base from incoming ordinance, but there’s an interesting incorporation of first-person walking sim and adventure game elements in between the combat sections that look to separate Delta from its previous Missile Command lineage.
EA Sports College Football 26
- Release Date — July 10, 2025
- Developer — EA Orlando
- Publisher — Electronic Arts
- Genre — Sports
- Platforms — PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S
EA Sports’ decision to revive the long-dormant NCAA Football franchise as EA Sports College Football has been a major win for both the company and players, with the first new entry in the series quickly becoming one of the best-selling games for the month of its release last year. This year’s entry, EA Sports College Football 26, is another visually impressive entry in the new resurgence of Electronic Arts’ collegiate football simulator, and the hype surrounding the game’s impending release points to it being one of 2025’s best-selling games, right ahead of the beginning of the 2025-2026 football season.
Everdeep Aurora
- Release Date — July 10, 2025
- Developer — Nautilus Games
- Publisher — Ysbryd Games
- Genre — Adventure, Platformer
- Platforms — PC, Nintendo Switch
Nautilus Games’ Everdeep Aurora is a title that seemingly captivates just about everyone who plays it, with a strong demo helping to build up hype for its release as part of the recent Steam Next Fest. An obvious homage to the monochromatic adventure games and platformers from the Game Boy and Game Boy Color, Everdeep Aurora has some surprising Metroidvania elements in its massive, interconnected map and ability-gated progression that help to support its fairly simplistic gameplay. But while Everdeep Aurora might be light on mechanics, it’s heavy on aesthetics and vibes.
Every Day We Fight
- Release Date — July 10, 2025
- Developer — Signal Space Lab
- Publisher — Hooded Horse
- Genre — Turn-Based Tactics, FPS
- Platforms — PC
One of my favorite demos from the recent Steam Next Fest, Every Day We Fight is set to launch exclusively for PC this week and is an unmissable game for fans of turn-based tactics. While the general gameplay loop of combat will be familiar to anyone who’s played Firaxis’ XCOM games and their ilk, the decision to have players control their party in real-time for both movement and taking actions gives Every Day We Fight its own unique twist on the genre, complete with getting to aim and shoot in first-person rather than relying on an oftentimes cruel RNG.
Islanders: New Shores
- Release Date — July 10, 2025
- Developer — Coatsink
- Publisher — Coatsink
- Genre — City-Builder, Cozy Game
- Platforms — PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S
Coatsink’s Islanders is one of the more relaxing “cozy” city-building games out there, tying in elements of puzzle game design in how it challenges you to fit all your buildings and resources on a tiny space with varying elevations. It’s getting its first quasi-sequel/expansion this week in the form of Islanders: New Shores, which adds new buildings and mechanics along with a rebalancing of how the game calculates your score at the end of each level. New Shores‘ launch couldn’t be more perfectly timed with the first game’s Switch version recently getting a substantial performance boost on the Switch 2.
Mycopunk
- Release Date — July 10, 2025
- Developer — Pigeons at Play
- Publisher — Devolver Digital
- Genre — FPS, Co-op
- Platforms — PC
Devolver Digital rarely misses when it comes to the games it publishes, and its latest title is one of this week’s more interesting game releases: Mycopunk. Appropos to its name, Mycopunk is a co-op arena shooter where up to 4 players using unique classes battle against strange, mushroom-like creatures that are intent on wiping out you and your team. Mycopunk‘s demo was a fun slice of gameplay that included some solid shooting and traversal, but the game’s real star is its stellar art direction and visual style.
System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster
- Release Date — July 10, 2025
- Developer — Nightdive Studios
- Publisher — Nightdive Studios
- Genre — FPS, RPG, Immersive Sim
- Platforms — PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
After just recently launching on PC, Nightdive Studios’ System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is arriving on consoles this week, including a release for Nintendo Switch. By all accounts, Nightdive did a commendable job remastering and preserving one of the most important first-person shooter games from the turn of the century, making it the perfect companion to its equally excellent remake of the original System Shock.
Bendy and the Dark Revival
- Release Date — July 11, 2025
- Developer — Joey Drew Studios
- Publisher — Joey Drew Studios
- Genre — Horror, Adventure
- Platforms — PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S
Another former PC-exclusive making its way to consoles this week is Bendy and the Dark Revival, and it’s one that survival horror fans should definitely keep an eye on. The Bendy games are unique first-person horror experiences that take place in an obviously Disney-inspired animation studio backdrop that calls to mind the “rubber hose” cartoons of the early 20th century, and Dark Revival is supposedly the best of the bunch. It currently holds a 93% “Very Positive” user rating on Steam, so horror fans should be in for a treat when Bendy launches on console later this week.
Patapon 1 + 2 Replay
- Release Date — July 11, 2025
- Developer — SAS
- Publisher — Bandai Namco
- Genre — Music/Rhythm
- Platforms — PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch
The three Patapon games on PSP were some of the best titles for the handheld while also being some of the better rhythmically inclined music games on the market, and the first two are finally making their way to modern platforms for the first time in almost 10 years. While the first Patapon received a PS4 remaster in 2017, Patapon 2 hasn’t been playable on current-gen hardware in much longer, and both titles will now be available not just on PS5 but on Switch and PC as well. The Patapon games are a perfect fit for either the Nintendo Switch or Switch 2, filling a surprising gap in the consoles’ libraries when it comes to music/rhythm games.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4
- Release Date — July 11, 2025
- Developer — Iron Galaxy
- Publisher — Activision
- Genre — Sports
- Platforms — PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
Along with EA Sports College Football 26, one of the biggest game releases this week is undoubtedly Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4. Similar to the 2020 remake package of the first two games in the Tony Hawk series, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 brings together the parks and skater rosters of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 and reimagines them with some impressive current gen visuals, new mechanics from 4 introduced into 3‘s parks, and more. And, for the first time, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 will include a brand-new, original park created exclusively for the game.
