Game Releases This Week: June 16, 2025 to June 20, 2025

We’ve now hit the middle of June, which technically means we’re at the halfway point of 2025. It’s already been quite a packed year in terms of game releases, but this week shows little sign of that cadence slowing down, with a surprisingly large chunk of highly anticipated titles arriving over just the next few days. Today sees a small handful of new releases before tomorrow’s onslaught of 4 high-profile titles dropping on the same day, headlined by Remedy Entertainment’s co-op FPS set in the Alan Wake/Control universe, FBC Firebreak. But that’s not to say that the back half of the week isn’t just as stacked, as we’ve got both Sloclap’s Rematch and the Shin Megami Tensei spin-off Raidou Remastered to look forward to.

Gex Trilogy

Game Releases This Week: June 16, 2025 to June 20, 2025
  • Release Date — Jun 16, 2025
  • Publisher — Limited Run Games
  • Developer — Limited Run Games, Crystal Dynamics
  • Genre — Action Platformer
  • Platforms — PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S

Despite not being received all that well at the time of their release, the Gex games have maintained a bit of a cult following throughout the years. Their status as sort of “hidden gems” of the 5th console generation has led to Limited Run Games compiling the three mainline entries in the series as the Gex Trilogy, which releases today on all major consoles and PC. Considering the somewhat tepid Steam user score Gex Trilogy currently has, maybe this is one compilation of titles that were better left in the past.

Nightmare Frontier

Nightmare Frontier gameplay
  • Release Date — June 16, 2025
  • Publisher — Ice Code Games
  • Developer — Ice Code Games
  • Genre — Turn-Based Tactics, Roguelike
  • Platforms — PC

Ice Code Games has already proved itself adept at making a great turn-based tactics roguelike with Rogue Waters, and now it’s back with another attempt in Nightmare Frontier. As of the time of writing, Nightmare Frontier has just launched on Steam into Early Access, and its public demo that’s been available for the last few weeks was enough to get me fully on board after playing and enjoying both Hard West II (also from Ice Code Games) and Rogue Waters.

Rooftops & Alleys: The Parkour Game

Rooftops & Alleys gameplay
  • Release Date — June 16, 2025
  • Publisher — MLMEDIA, Radical Theory, Shine Group
  • Developer — MLMEDIA
  • Genre — Platforming, Simulation
  • Platforms — PC

After having already had a hugely successful run in Early Access, the parkour game Rooftops & Alleys launches into 1.0 today on Steam. Truth be told, I had never even heard of this game until I saw it was a new release on the Steam Store landing page, and its 97% “Overwhelmingly Positive” user review score has me intrigued to learn more. By all accounts, developer MLMEDIA has worked hard to make Rooftops & Alleys one of the most enjoyable multiplayer experiences centering around parkour, and it’s practically bursting with content and modes to try out.

Date Everything!

Date Everything gameplay
  • Release Date — June 17, 2025
  • Publisher — Team17
  • Developer — Sassy Chap Games
  • Genre — Simulation, Visual Novel
  • Platforms — PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S

Tuesday, June 17 is going to be a big day for game releases, and one that might not be on a lot of players’ radars is Date Everything. Date Everything is a humorous and heartfelt visual novel/dating sim that, you guessed it, allows you to date a plethora of inanimate objects in the comfort of your own home. Review coverage for this one seems to indicate that it takes that interesting premise and uses it to deliver a story with plenty of strong writing and character development that offers a hilarious send-up of the traditional dating sim game.

FBC Firebreak

FBC Firebreak gameplay
  • Release Date — June 17, 2025
  • Publisher — Remedy Entertainment
  • Developer — Remedy Entertainment
  • Genre — FPS, Co-Op Shooter
  • Platforms — PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S

Perhaps the most anticipated game release this week is Remedy’s FBC Firebreak. Firebreak is the long-awaited, co-op-focused FPS set in the same iconic building from Control, The Oldest House, and features the trademark weirdness that you’d expect from the developers behind both Control and Alan Wake. Co-op shooters are practically a dime a dozen, but that Remedy has managed to put its own unique stamp on the genre helps to set FBC Firebreak apart as an experience that could stand out among the crowd.

Lost in Random: The Eternal Die

Lost in Random: The Eternal Die gameplay
  • Release Date — June 17, 2025
  • Publisher — Thunderful Publishing
  • Developer — Stormteller Games
  • Genre — Action Roguelike
  • Platforms — PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S

Also arriving on June 17 is the action roguelike sequel to narrative adventure game Lost in Random, Lost in Random: The Eternal Die. Anyone who’s played Hades or similar top-down action roguelikes will know what to expect from The Eternal Die, but it does offer up some unique twists on the genre through its dark board game-inspired atmosphere and its robust relic system. And, similar to Hades, expect a heavier emphasis on narrative in The Eternal Die than you might get from other action roguelikes.

Tron: Catalyst

TRON: Catalyst gameplay
  • Release Date — June 17, 2025
  • Publisher — Big Fan Games, Devolver Digital
  • Developer — Bithell Games
  • Genre — Action-Adventure
  • Platforms — PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S

The last of the major releases from June 17, but far from the least of them, is TRON: Catalyst. Despite being a film that is so inextricably tied to the rise of computer gaming, we’ve gotten surprisingly few video games actually based on TRON, and TRON: Catalyst looks to be one of the most promising. While most of its gameplay boils down to a top-down action/adventure beat ’em up, TRON: Catalyst has some great writing that really fleshes out its world, along with some intriguing investigation mechanics pulled straight from a classic point-and-click adventure game.

Netherworld Covenant

Netherworld Covenant gameplay
  • Release Date — June 18, 2025
  • Publisher — Infini Fun
  • Developer — Mad Goat Game Studio
  • Genre — ARPG, Roguelike
  • Platforms — PC

I was surprised to see that this week also marks the release of Netherworld Covenant, which I’ve been eagerly anticipating since playing its initial public demo back during the February 2025 Steam Next Fest. Netherworld Covenant is an ARPG that borrows heavily from the Diablo playbook, but it does so within the structure of an action roguelike attempting to offer near infinite replayability. It also happens to feature a strong Dark Souls-esque sense of style and atmosphere.

Chronicles of the Wolf

Chronicles of the Wolf gameplay
  • Release Date — June 19, 2025
  • Publisher — PQube, Pixel Heart
  • Developer — Migami Games
  • Genre — Action Platformer
  • Platforms — PC

Migami Games previously released the excellent Wallachia as an obvious ode to the classic 8 and 16-bit Castlevania games (pre-the series’ transition into Metroidvania territory), and now it’s set to do it again with Chronicles of the Wolf. But where Wallachia was a more straightforward action platformer, Chronicles of the Wolf does appear to be dipping its toe more into Metroidvania territory, with early reviews already drawing favorable comparisons to one of the genre’s legendary forebears: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army

Raidou Remastered gameplay
  • Release Date — June 19, 2025
  • Publisher — Atlus
  • Developer — Sega
  • Genre — Action RPG, JRPG
  • Platforms — PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S

Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs the Soulless Army is one of the more beloved Shin Megami Tensei spin-offs to release on the PS2, and it’s now getting a shot at reaching a broader audience courtesy of its remaster, Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. Raidou Remastered has looked great ever since its reveal at the February Nintendo Direct showcase, and it also happens to be one of the first cross-gen releases to get both a Switch and Switch 2 version.

Rematch

Rematch gameplay
  • Release Date — June 19, 2025
  • Publisher — Sloclap, Kepler Interactive
  • Developer — Sloclap
  • Genre — Sports
  • Platforms — PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S

Sloclap’s soccer-themed follow-up to Sifu, Rematch, finally arrives later this week on all platforms except for the Nintendo Switch. A 5v5 competitive sports title, Rematch has been available to play in pre-release for roughly a week now, and it’s already garnering some positive impressions for its slick visuals, animation, and fluid movement (no surprise considering it’s from the team behind Sifu).

Star Overdrive

Star Overdrive gameplay
  • Release Date — June 19, 2025
  • Publisher — Dear Villagers
  • Developer — Caracal Games
  • Genre — Action-Adventure, Open World
  • Platforms — PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S

Having already been released on Nintendo Switch earlier this year, Star Overdrive is now set to launch on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox toward the end of this week. Star Overdrive is basically a sci-fi-skinned version of Breath of the Wild, but its satisfying movement and unique traversal mechanic (a jet-powered hoverboard) are doing a lot of heavy lifting to separate it from what would otherwise be an unfair comparison for any game.
