Game Releses This Week – June 23, 2025 to June 27, 2025
Hard to believe, but we’re already in the final week of June, which means we’ve officially crossed the halfway point of 2025 and are now in Q3. June has already been a fairly busy month for game releases, even if it didn’t quite reach the same highs of April and May, and its last full week is closing things out with a small but respectable group of new titles. Looking at this week’s game releases, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is the real highlight, but it’s backed up by several smaller games that are either making their console debuts or coming to the West for the first time.
Outrider Mako
Fresh off an excellent demo as part of the June 2025 Steam Next Fest, Outrider Mako is set to kick the week off with its PC release tomorrow, June 23. This top-down action-adventure is equal parts The Legend of Zelda and Nioh, mixing the exploration and combat of one of Link’s classic games and the tough-as-nails combat and spectacle-rich encounter design of a Team Ninja soulslike. The demo for Outrider Mako was excellent and did a great job of showcasing its quirky atmosphere and writing, so here’s hoping the full game keeps that level of quality consistent throughout.

Evercore Heroes: Ascension
- Release Date — June 24, 2025
- Publisher — Vela Games
- Developer — Vela Games
- Genre — Action Roguelike, Hack and Slash
- Platforms — PC
Would it even be another week of game releases without at least one new action roguelike? Probably not, which is why we actually have two very promising-looking ones dropping this week. The first is Evercore Heroes: Ascension, which labels itself as a “Hero Roguelike”, taking inspiration from Hero Shooters and MOBAs in its characters and focus on co-op play while also leaning heavily into some satisfying action RPG-style combat. If there’s a good mix of playable characters to choose from and a strong community to find co-op partners from, Evercore Heroes could end up being a sleeper roguelike hit.
Shuffle Tactics
- Release Date — June 24, 2025
- Publisher — The Arcade Crew
- Developer — Club Sandwich
- Genre — Roguelike, Deckbuilder, TRPG
- Platforms — PC
The second roguelike releasing this week, and one that I’m definitely going to be picking up on day 1, is Shuffle Tactics. Shuffle Tactics is a hybrid deckbuilding roguelike and turn-based tactical RPG, and while we’ve seen that combo before, the demo for Shuffle Tactics released as part of February’s Steam Next Fest proved that the game has what it takes to stand out as one of the best to do it. The cards are more of a means to an end and a substitute for the abilities and equipment that would otherwise be static in a turn-based tactical RPG, while the combat and movement are pure tactics.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader – Lex Imperialis
- Release Date — June 24, 2025
- Publisher — Owlcat Games
- Developer — Owlcat Games
- Genre — CRPG, TRPG
- Platforms — PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S
Owlcat Games’ Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is already one of the best CRPGs out there, and it’s now set to get its second DLC this week. Following up the excellent Void Shadows DLC, Lex Imperialis introduces 15 hours of new story content, a new faction, new companions and familiars that shake up the game’s tactical combat, and more. Even if you have little to no interest in the Warhammer 40,000 property, Rogue Trader is absolutely worth checking out if you like well-written, immersive RPGs with phenomenal turn-based tactical gameplay.
Against the Storm
- Release Date — June 26, 2025
- Publisher — Hooded Horse
- Developer — Eremite Games
- Genre — Roguelike, City-Builder
- Platforms — PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
Roguelike and city-builder hybrid Against the Storm is finally making its way to consoles this week following a year of PC exclusivity. If you have yet to play Against the Storm, it essentially takes the best parts of a city-builder (namely, the first few hours’ worth of gameplay and expansion) and transforms it into an endlessly replayable roguelike with some surprisingly deep mechanics and rewarding meta-progression. And if you happen to be a Game Pass Ultimate subscriber, you can play it on PC or Xbox on day 1.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
- Release Date — June 26, 2025
- Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
- Developer — Kojima Productions
- Genre — Action-Adventure
- Platforms — PlayStation 5
The biggest release of the week, and one of the year’s most anticipated games, is Death Stranding 2. Whenever a legendary video game auteur like Hideo Kojima does something, the gaming industry stands up and takes notice, and players have been eagerly anticipating this surprise sequel to the excellent and wholly unique Death Stranding ever since it was first revealed at The Game Awards 2022. According to Kojima himself, players can’t even begin to imagine what the game has in store for them, and we can’t wait to find out.
Front Mission 3 Remake
- Release Date — June 26, 2025
- Publisher — Forever Entertainment
- Developer — MegaPixel Studio
- Genre — TRPG
- Platforms — Nintendo Switch
With any luck, this week’s release of the Front Mission 3 Remake will see the series correct course from Front Mission 2 Remake and lean more toward the level of quality of Front Mission: 1st‘s remake. Interestingly enough, it’s not Square Enix that’s handling the development and publishing of Front Mission 3‘s remake, but instead MegaPixel Studio and Forever Entertainment. Regardless, the screenshots of Front Mission 3 Remake seem to indicate that the studio has done a good job of faithfully recreating and polishing up one of the PS1’s best tactical RPGs.
Persona 5: The Phantom X
- Release Date — June 26, 2025
- Publisher — Atlus, Sega, Perfect World
- Developer — Sega
- Genre — Action RPG, Gacha
- Platforms — Android, iOS, PC
Fandom for Persona 5 is still fervent nearly 10 years after the game’s release, which makes this week’s North American launch of Persona 5: The Phantom X a potential smash. A mix between an action RPG and a gacha game, Persona 5: The Phantom X has already had a successful beta launch in overseas markets and is now set to make its worldwide 1.0 launch on mobile devices and PC. I’m not one for gacha games, but if Phantom X can adequately balance its monetization with some compelling action RPG gameplay in the Persona 5 universe, it’ll be a fitting send-off to this world before we get Persona 6 and the Persona 4 remake.
Stasis
- Release Date — June 26, 2025
- Publisher — Feardemic
- Developer — The Brotherhood
- Genre — Adventure, Survival Horror
- Platforms — PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
Considering how well point-and-click adventure games and horror go together, it’s surprising we haven’t seen more games that merge the two as part of the old-school adventure game renaissance of the last few years. Stasis is a title that successfully pulls off that mix, having already garnered plenty of praise from its original PC release 10 years ago and now finally heading to consoles this week. Between its puzzles and its writing, Stasis is supposed to be a must-play experience for fans of sci-fi and horror, but it’s far from the only title in that vein releasing this week…
System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster
- Release Date — June 26, 2025
- Publisher — Nightdive Studios
- Developer — Nightdive Studios
- Genre — FPS, Immersive Sim
- Platforms — PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
Capping off our list of this week’s game releases is the long-awaited remaster of System Shock 2. Following its work on both the original System Shock remaster and its ground-up remake of that legendary title, Nightdive Studios turned its attention to completing a proper remaster of the second game in the short-lived sci-fi horror immersive sim franchise, and it’s coming to PC and consoles simultaneously. System Shock 2 is arguably one of the most important and influential PC games of the late ’90s/early ’00s, and its remaster looks like it’s shaping up to look and play better than ever.
