Sony is Reportedly Planning a Multi-Platform Strategy: Here Are 10 PlayStation Exclusives We’d Love to See on Other Consoles

In a move that seemingly follows in the footsteps of Microsoft’s Xbox strategy, a new job posting for Sony Interactive Entertainment suggests that Sony exclusives may be branching out to more than just PC. Sony has been vocal about its desire to bring most of the PlayStation’s exclusive titles over to PC, and the upcoming launch of Helldivers 2 on Xbox Series X/S is more fuel on the speculative fire that these efforts may just be the first steps in a larger strategy to see Sony’s titles go multi-platform. If that’s the case, and we are going to be getting PS exclusives on the Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S, these are the 10 games that we’d like to see arrive first from the large library of quality Sony first-party titles.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

  • Release Date — February 29, 2024
  • Developer — Square Enix Creative Business Unit I
  • Publisher — Square Enix
  • Genre — Action RPG, JRPG
  • Review Aggregate Score — 92% (Universal Acclaim)

This one is almost a given, considering Final Fantasy VII Remake is already heading to both Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S, but Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a perfect title to break free from its PS5 and PC exclusivity. Square Enix has already been more deliberate in its support of the Xbox platform after largely ignoring Microsoft’s console this entire generation, and the company continues to exhibit a strong partnership with Nintendo. With its predecessor already heading to other platforms, it’s a safe bet to assume the even better Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will eventually make its way to Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S.

Marvel’s Spider-Man

  • Release Date — September 7, 2018
  • Developer — Insomniac Games
  • Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
  • Genre — Action-Adventure, Open-World
  • Review Aggregate Score — 87% (Generally Favorable)

This one might be a little tricky to pull off, given how particular Marvel is about its licensing rights, but getting to have the incredible Marvel’s Spider-Man on Switch 2 would be a dream come true. The Batman: Arkham trilogy found substantial success on the original Nintendo Switch despite its technical issues, so it’s clear Switch owners are hungry for great superhero games. It’s honestly hard to think of a better candidate for Sony to make multi-platform with how popular a character Spider-Man has been and continues to be, so hopefully we’ll see the webbed wall-crawler make his way to more platforms than just PlayStation and PC.

God of War

  • Release Date — April 20, 2018
  • Developer — Santa Monica Studio
  • Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
  • Genre — Action-Adventure
  • Review Aggregate Score — 94% (Universal Acclaim)

Both God of War and God of War Ragnarök are two of the better modern action games, so it would make perfect sense to see these titles arrive on more platforms than just PlayStation and PC. Like some of the other games on this list, God of War‘s PC versions proved that the property has appeal that extends far beyond the PlayStation user base, so it’s not hard to imagine both the modern God of War games doing very well on either Switch 2 or Xbox Series X/S. That said, God of War is one of the properties near and dear to Sony’s heart that might be one of the last holdouts to go multi-platform.

Horizon Zero Dawn

  • Release Date — February 28, 2017
  • Developer — Guerrilla Games
  • Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
  • Genre — Action-Adventure, Open-World
  • Review Aggregate Score — 89% (Generally Favorable)

Another Sony first-party IP that we’d love to see arrive on more platforms, but aren’t holding our breath to see happen, is Horizon Zero Dawn. Like God of War, the Horizon IP has been incredibly important to PlayStation and Sony this generation, so it might not be as quick to make the jump to multi-platform as other games on this list. Still, LEGO Horizon Adventures launched as a mutli-platform title despite the licensing, which gives hope for Sony and Guerrilla to bring these excellent open-world adventures to the Switch 2 or Xbox Series X/S. While they’re at it, let’s see Killzone make the jump, too.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach

  • Release Date — June 26, 2025
  • Developer — Kojima Productions
  • Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
  • Genre — Action-Adventure, Stealth, Open-World
  • Review Aggregate Score — 90% (Universal Acclaim)

With the original Death Stranding now available on both PC and Xbox Series X/S after originally being a PlayStation exclusive, it’s seemingly only a matter of time before the sequel jumps ship as well. Death Stranding 2 is already making waves as one of 2025’s highest-rated games, and it’s by all accounts a better game than its predecessor, even if it achieves this at the cost of some of the immersion and atmosphere of the original. Frankly, Death Stranding 2 coming to at least PC and Xbox Series X/S is not a question of “if”, but “when”.

Astro Bot

  • Release Date — September 6, 2024
  • Developer — Team Asobi
  • Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
  • Genre — Platformer
  • Review Aggregate Score — 94% (Universal Acclaim)

Team Asobi’s Astro Bot is both a love letter to the entire history of the PlayStation brand and one of the best 3D platformers in years, not to mention 2024’s Game of the Year winner. When considering Sony exclusives that are begging to be made multi-platform, Astro Bot is at or near the top of the list for those reasons and more, and its arrival on Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S could be a net positive not just for Team Asobi and Sony, but for the entire industry. Not only would Astro Bot be a great 3D platformer in each console’s library, it could potentially inspire developers to be more creative and innovative in their design, spawning a new golden age for the genre.

Returnal

  • Release Date — April 30, 2021
  • Developer — Housemarque
  • Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
  • Genre — Action Roguelike, Shooter
  • Review Aggregate Score — 86% (Generally Favorable)

Another Sony exclusive that was well-received on PlayStation 5 before successfully making the jump to PC is Returnal, and it’s practically begging to be made multi-platform. Whether the Switch 2 could handle the title is up in the air (though, if it can easily handle Cyberpunk 2077, it should be just fine), Returnal is a natural fit for Xbox Series X/S, and could even be a great game for Game Pass. As a bonus, Sony’s freeing up of Returnal could open the floodgates for Housemarque to go through its back catalog of excellent shooters and bring them to PC and other consoles.

Demon’s Souls

  • Release Date — November 12, 2020
  • Developer — Bluepoint Games
  • Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
  • Genre — Action RPG, Soulslike
  • Review Aggregate Score — 92% (Universal Acclaim)

Since the launch of the PS5 and the release of Demon’s Souls, players have been begging for the game to make the jump to PC and other consoles. Along with Bloodborne, it’s one of the few FromSoftware properties that’s not on most major platforms, and it’s a hugely important title in the company’s legacy as the foundational building blocks for what would be the studio’s breakout hit: Dark Souls. Bluepoint’s Demon’s Souls remake does an excellent job of retaining the core gameplay of the original while making it a bit more accessible and visually stunning, and it would be a big deal for it to finally arrive on PC and Xbox Series X/S.

Ghost of Tsushima

  • Release Date — July 17, 2020
  • Developer — Sucker Punch Productions
  • Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
  • Genre — Action-Adventure, Open-World
  • Review Aggregate Score — 83% (Generally Favorable)

Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima is one of the better open-world games in the catalog of Sony exclusives, and it only got better when it made the jump to PC. With no hiccups related to licensing holding it back like with Spider-Man, it might be the most obvious candidate for a multi-platform release in the Sony first-party library, especially for how incredible a game the original PS4 version still is in a modern context. Bringing Ghost of Tsushima to Switch 2 seems like a possibility, and the idea of having the open-world playground of feudal Japan on the go is almost too good to be true.

Bloodborne

  • Release Date — March 24, 2015
  • Developer — FromSoftware
  • Publisher — Sony Computer Entertainment
  • Genre — Action RPG, Soulslike
  • Review Aggregate Score — 92% (Universal Acclaim)

Any time the subject of Sony exclusives going multi-platform gets brought up, it’s practically a given that Bloodborne lands in the number one spot for “most-wanted” title to break free from its PlayStation exclusivity. It’s easy to see why. Bloodborne remains what many consider to be FromSoftware’s magnum opus, even in the wake of the gargantuan success of Elden Ring, and its prison of PlayStation hardware exclusivity just seems cruel at this point. It’s high time for Bloodborne to make its way not just to PC, but to other consoles as well, perhaps even freeing up FromSoftware to work on a sequel or Bluepoint Games to deliver a modern remake or remaster.
