The Best Deals to Grab During the PlayStation Ready Set Play Sale
Right after wrapping up the storefront’s Gamescom sale, the PlayStation Store kicked off the Ready, Set, Play promotion. This latest sales event runs until September 10 and contains a ton of excellent deals to grab while it’s active, including some titles down to their lowest-ever prices and a handful of games getting their inaugural discounts. As is typically the case, some of these games are at an even deeper discount for PS Plus subscribers, though we’ve chosen to highlight the best games to grab that have universal discounts, regardless of a subscription to Sony’s online play service.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns – Legendary Edition
- Release Date — December 2, 2022
- Developer — Firaxis Games
- Publisher — 2K
- Genre — Turn-Based Tactics
- Review Aggregate Score — 81% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $19.99 (Normally $99.99, 80% off)
While it’s likely that most die-hard XCOM fans snapped up Marvel’s Midnight Suns right around launch, the game seems to have mostly flown under players’ radars, as evidenced by it being a bit of a sales disappointment for 2K. It’s a shame, because Midnight Suns features some of the absolute best turn-based tactical battling and a unique combat system built around movement, positioning, and relegating all moves and abilities to a hand of random cards that you can build and upgrade. The Legendary Edition of Midnight Suns that includes all four DLC expansions is just $20 and definitely worth grabbing at that price.
Demon’s Souls
- Release Date — November 12, 2020
- Developer — Bluepoint Games
- Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
- Genre — Action RPG, Soulslike
- Review Aggregate Score — 92% (Universal Acclaim)
- Price — $29.39 (Normally $69.99, 58% off)
Bluepoint Games’ Demon’s Souls remake was one of the PS5’s best launch titles, and it also happens to be one of the best video game remakes. It’s currently down to just $29 as part of a rare discount, making it the perfect time to grab this excellent action RPG if you haven’t yet. Purists may say that the original Demon’s Souls is better thanks to its darker atmosphere, but it’s hard to deny that Bluepoint did a spectacular job updating this classic title’s visuals and gameplay for modern hardware. No Soulslike collection is complete without it.
God of War III Remastered
- Release Date — July 14, 2015
- Developer — Santa Monica Studio, Wholesale Algorithms
- Publisher — Sony Computer Entertainment
- Genre — Action-Adventure
- Review Aggregate Score — 81% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $9.99 (Normally $19.99, 50% off)
The remastered version of God of War III is a worthwhile pick-up for any fan of Kratos’ god-killing adventures, especially if you happened to have missed the original when it released on PlayStation 3. It doesn’t add much to the package outside of slightly polishing the visuals and upscaling them for HD, but it honestly doesn’t need to. God of War III is still a fitting conclusion to the Greek mythology chapter of Kratos’ saga, and it’s perhaps the best of the “classic” God of War games in terms of its combat. It’s also one of the best games you can grab during the Ready, Set, Play sale for $10 or less.
Dying Light 2: Stay Human
- Release Date — February 4, 2022
- Developer — Techland
- Publisher — Techland
- Genre — Action RPG, Survival Horror
- Review Aggregate Score — 76% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $19.79 (Normally $59.99, 67% off)
Techland has a new chapter in the Dying Light saga about to come out next month with Dying Light: The Beast, which makes now a perfect time to dive into Dying Light 2 if you managed to miss it. Three years later, Dying Light 2 is still impressive, both for its visuals and its incredibly fun movement and combat sandbox, and it feels like parkouring around a zombie-infested city never gets old. It’s currently on a rare deep discount down to just $20, and you could absolutely finish it just in time to be ready for the return of Kyle Crane in Dying Light: The Beast.
Final Fantasy VII Remake & Rebirth
- Release Date — June 10, 2021 (Remake); February 29, 2024 (Rebirth)
- Developer — Square Enix Creative Business Unit 1
- Publisher — Square Enix
- Genre — Action RPG
- Review Aggregate Score — 89% (Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade); 92% (Final Fantasy VII Rebirth)
- Price — $59.99 (Normally $99.99, 40% off)
Either one of the chapters in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy would be worth picking up on its own, which makes this current deal a must-have for anyone who has yet to add these titles to their library. For the price of one AAA game, you can currently get both Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, both of which reimagine the classic 1997 JRPG with modern gameplay and visuals and a surprisingly reworked plot that manages to keep even the most ardent of fans guessing.
No Man’s Sky
- Release Date — November 12, 2020
- Developer — Hello Games
- Publisher — Hello Games
- Genre — Action-Adventure, Survival, Crafting
- Review Aggregate Score — 82% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $23.99 (Normally $59.99, 60% off)
Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky is one of gaming’s greatest Cinderella stories, going from being a disappointing title whose ambition outpaced its reach to being one of the best and most immersive open-world survival-craft games. That turnaround is all thanks to Hello Games’ tireless efforts to polish No Man’s Sky into the title it was always meant to be, and it’s safe to say that it’s pretty much there now, with the game being in its best-ever state after a recent major patch/update. If you’ve yet to check out No Man’s Sky, its current 60% discount certainly provides a nice incentive to take the plunge.
Hogwarts Legacy
- Release Date — February 10, 2023
- Developer — Avalanche Software
- Publisher — Warner Bros. Games
- Genre — Action-Adventure
- Review Aggregate Score — 84% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $13.99 (Normally $69.99, 80% off)
2023’s best-selling game, Hogwarts Legacy, is back on sale once again, only this time it’s down to its lowest-ever price of just $14. This open-world adventure set in the Wizarding World of the Harry Potter universe is a great game with some surprisingly interesting combat and plenty of Easter Eggs and fan service. Even if you’re not a Harry Potter fan or only tangentially knowledgeable of that universe, Hogwarts Legacy is still a fun and enjoyable open-world game that’s definitely worth picking up for less than $15.
Cyberpunk 2077
- Release Date — February 15, 2022
- Developer — CD Projekt RED
- Publisher — CD Projekt RED
- Genre — Action RPG, FPS
- Review Aggregate Score — 75% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $22.49 (Normally $49.99, 50% off)
While it’s not at its lowest-ever price on the PlayStation Store, Cyberpunk 2077 is once again on sale as part of the Ready, Set, Play sales event, and it also happens to be in the best state it’s been since launch. To its credit, CD Projekt RED continues to refine and improve Cyberpunk 2077 in a myriad of ways that help to elevate it to being one of the greatest action RPGs money can buy, and the Phantom Liberty DLC only cemented that position further. You can currently grab both the base game and Phantom Liberty together for $42, which is strongly recommended to get the most out of the experience.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered
- Release Date — April 22, 2025
- Developer — Bethesda Game Studios, Virtuous
- Publisher — Bethesda Softworks
- Genre — Action RPG
- Review Aggregate Score — 82% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $39.99 (Normally $49.99, 20% off)
Despite having just been released back in April, Oblivion Remastered is once again on sale for 20% off, bringing this excellent remaster down to just $40. Oblivion Remastered faithfully maintains the gameplay (warts and all) of the 2006 original while updating its visuals to a modern standard, and it’s impressive how well the game holds up as one of the all-time greatest open-world RPGs. If you’ve held off on picking up Oblivion Remastered until now, that 20% discount is a great incentive to go ahead and grab it. It’s absolutely worth it.
Ready or Not
- Release Date — July 15, 2025
- Developer — VOID Interactive
- Publisher — VOID Interactive
- Genre — Tactical Shooter
- Review Aggregate Score — 80% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $39.99 (Normally $49.99, 20% off)
Tactical shooter Ready or Not only released on console last month, and it’s already on sale over at the PlayStation Store. As far as tactical shooters go, Ready or Not is as close as we’ll get to a new game in the legendary SWAT series, and it’s a ton of fun whether playing as a single-player operative or with a co-op squad full of friends. It’s tense, dark, and occasionally brutally difficult, but it scratches the same kind of itch that classics like Rainbow Six: Vegas or SWAT 4 did, making it a rare kind of shooter experience we don’t get too many of these days.
