The Best Deals to Grab During the PlayStation Store Black Friday Sale
The fast-approaching Thanksgiving holiday in the US has helped kick off the annual associated Black Friday sales, which have already started at most of the digital storefronts for the major hardware manufacturers. The PlayStation Store Black Friday Sale went live last weekend, and as per usual, it’s jam-packed with what are arguably the best deals to get on PS4 and PS5 games for the year. This year’s Black Friday Sale is especially exciting because it brings together a whole host of incredible bargains on 2025’s best games, allowing players who have been waiting to try and pick up the year’s most unmissable titles the opportunity to grab several in one fell swoop. Before these deals expire on December 1, these are the PlayStation 5 games we’d place a priority on snagging.
The Last of Us Complete
- Release Date — September 2, 2022 (Part I); January 19, 2024 (Part II Remastered)
- Developer — Naughty Dog
- Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
- Genre — Action, Stealth, Survival Horror
- Review Aggregate Score — 89% (Part I); 90% (Part II Remastered)
- Price — $69.99 (Normally $99.99, 30% off)
Since last year, PlayStation 5 owners have been able to get both parts of The Last of Us saga in a remastered format, and now they can grab them as a bundle on the PlayStation Store. The Last of Us Complete brings together both 2022’s The Last of Us Part I and 2024’s The Last of Us Part II Remastered, both of which have significant visual and performance enhancements for PS5 Pro owners. But even if you’re playing these games on a base PS5, they’re a significant visual upgrade from their original versions, and they each still contain the same fantastic survival horror gameplay and emotionally poignant narratives that they’re known for. When it comes to getting two incredible games for the price of one, the deal on The Last of Us Complete is hard to beat.
Hell Is Us
- Release Date — September 4, 2025
- Developer — Rogue Factor
- Publisher — Nacon
- Genre — Action-Adventure
- Review Aggregate Score — 78% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $41.99 (Normally $59.99, 30% off)
This year had no shortage of great Soulslike experiences, from The First Berserker: Khazan to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers and even Hollow Knight: Silksong. And while it’s not a pure Soulslike in the traditional sense, there are elements of the genre to be found in Hell Is Us that put it into a similar camp, and it deserves to be played by fans of any of the aforementioned games. Surprisingly, Hell Is Us shares a lot in common with Silksong in that it has just as much Metroidvania DNA as it does Soulslike, and it’s arguably the game’s atmospheric and immersive world and narrative storytelling that will keep you engaged, even when its combat and exploration elements start to wear a little thin. Hell Is Us is an unmissable game to pick up at its $42 sale price.
Ready or Not
- Release Date — July 15, 2025
- Developer — VOID Interactive
- Publisher — VOID Interactive
- Genre — FPS, Tactical Shooter
- Review Aggregate Score — 80% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $39.99 (Normally $49.99, 20% off)
For all the controversy that Ready or Not‘s console port caused (thanks to VOID Interactive insisting on parity between them and the PC version, causing issues with the game’s original PC fan base), the game has performed incredibly well since that launch, to the point where it consistently has a healthy player base on both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. VOID Interactive also did a commendable job translating the intense AI squad management and multi-faceted tactical shooting to a controller from its original mouse and keyboard format, resulting in the console version of Ready or Not being a great experience all on its own. It’s currently at a nice 20% off discount as part of the PlayStation Store Black Friday Sale, and if you can convince a friend to pick it up with you, it’s an absolute blast in co-op.
Ninja Gaiden 4
- Release Date — October 21, 2025
- Developer — Team Ninja, PlatinumGames
- Publisher — Xbox Game Studios
- Genre — Action
- Review Aggregate Score — 82% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $55.99 (Normally $69.99, 20% off)
If you’re looking to play one of the best (if not the best) action games this year, then Ninja Gaiden 4 is it. While some fans might decry the very different direction that PlatinumGames took the series, fans of the developer’s previous work on the Bayonetta trilogy will instantly recognize Ninja Gaiden 4 as carrying forward the trademarks the developer’s known for.
Ninja Gaiden 4 is flashy, fast, features some incredibly satisfying combat, and is a good bit more forgiving than past entries in the series’ 3D legacy. Some might say that those changes cause it to lose its identity and special place it held within the character action subgenre, but another perspective could just as well be that Ninja Gaiden 4 creates a path forward for the series to continue where there wasn’t one before. If you enjoy hack-and-slash games, do yourself a favor and grab Ninja Gaiden 4 while it’s on sale this week.
Doom: The Dark Ages Premium Edition
- Release Date — May 15, 2025
- Developer — id Software
- Publisher — Bethesda Softworks
- Genre — FPS
- Review Aggregate Score — 85% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $49.99 (Normally $99.99, 50% off)
One of the more impressive deals available as part of the PlayStation Store Black Friday Sale is the massive discount on Doom: The Dark Ages‘ Premium Edition, down to just $50 from its normal $100 MSRP. Coincidentally, there’s no available discount on the standard edition of Doom: The Dark Ages, meaning you’re able to get the edition that comes with any and all DLC for less than just the price of the base game. That’s a (pardon my pun) hellishly good deal.
Although Doom: The Dark Ages is perhaps the weakest of the modern Doom trilogy, that’s really only because both Doom and Doom Eternal set such a high bar. In any other context, Doom: The Dark Ages would be one of the year’s greatest FPS games. Never mind that it greatly expands the combat sandbox the series is known for in meaningful ways that shake up its pacing and flow.
The Outer Worlds 2
- Release Date — October 29, 2025
- Developer — Obsidian Entertainment
- Publisher — Xbox Game Studios
- Genre — FPS
- Review Aggregate Score — 80% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $55.99 (Normally $69.99, 20% off)
It’s not common for a game that’s barely a month old to be getting a 20% discount, but that’s precisely what’s happening with The Outer Worlds 2 over on the PlayStation Store, down to $56 from its normal $70 asking price just weeks after its launch. By all accounts, The Outer Worlds 2 is a vast improvement over its predecessor, and the first Outer Worlds was already a pretty enjoyable game. The flexibility of the quests, the impact of players’ choices, and the dialogue options and impressions you leave on NPCs are all more fleshed out and impressive in The Outer Worlds 2 than they were in the original, and the combat has reportedly followed suit as well. Along with being a genuinely entertaining and great RPG, The Outer Worlds 2 is supposed to have some fantastic first-person shooting, making it an easy pick-up for fans of action RPGs.
Split Fiction
- Release Date — March 6, 2025
- Developer — Hazelight Studios
- Publisher — Electronic Arts
- Genre — Action-Adventure, Platformer
- Review Aggregate Score — 91% (Universal Acclaim)
- Price — $39.99 (Normally $49.99, 20% off)
Not one, but four game of the year nominees at The Game Awards are currently heavily discounted as part of the PlayStation Store Black Friday Sale, with Split Fiction being the first up on our list. This co-op-focused adventure packs more ingenuity and gameplay tricks into just a single section of its campaign than most games put into an entire 8-hour experience, showcasing once again that Hazelight Studios are the undisputed masters of their craft and leading the cutting edge of innovative co-op gaming experiences. And while Split Fiction doesn’t have the same narrative weight that’s found in It Takes Two, it’s arguably the better game in terms of the actual gameplay and the genuine “wow” moments that it elicits on a surprisingly frequent basis. This is one that’s a no-brainer to grab while it’s cheap, and you can play it with a friend for free.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II
- Release Date — February 4, 2025
- Developer — Warhorse Studios
- Publisher — Deep Silver
- Genre — Action RPG
- Review Aggregate Score — 88% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $41.99 (Normally $69.99, 40% off)
Another strong contender for Game of the Year at The Game Awards, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is one of the best role-playing games to release in years, building on the strong foundation laid by its predecessor and smoothing out its rougher edges to deliver a more enjoyable experience that still places immersion and historical accuracy at the forefront. Few open-world sandboxes are as painstakingly recreated and believable as actual, lived-in places as Kingdom Come: Deliverance II‘s accurate depiction of medieval Bohemia, and seeing the journey of Henry of Skalitz continue is a treat unto itself for those of us who played the original Kingdom Come. At 40% off, there’s never been a better time than right now to pick up Kingdom Come: Deliverance II if you’ve patiently admired it from the sidelines since February.
Forza Horizon 5
- Release Date — April 29, 2025
- Developer — Playground Games, Panic Button
- Publisher — Xbox Game Studios
- Genre — Driving/Racing
- Review Aggregate Score — 92% (Universal Acclaim)
- Price — $38.99 (Normally $59.99, 35% off)
Microsoft’s willingness to effectively end the “console wars” by bringing former Xbox-exclusive titles over to the PlayStation 5 has been one of the bigger surprises in recent years, and this year alone, it brought us Gears of War: Reloaded, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Forza Horizon 5. And while both of those titles are also on sale as part of the PlayStation Store’s Black Friday event, Forza Horizon is perhaps the best “bang for your buck” option and a very solid alternative to the more simulation-heavy Gran Turismo 7. Forza Horizon strikes a nice balance between simulation-style realism and arcade racing accessibility, and it backs that blend up with some of the most stunning visuals and an open-world sandbox that’s an absolute blast to drive through in some impressively recreated real-world cars.
Dying Light: The Beast
- Release Date — September 18, 2025
- Developer — Techland
- Publisher — Techland
- Genre — Action, Survival Horror
- Review Aggregate Score — 78% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $47.99 (Normally $59.99, 20% off)
A lot of people may have slept on Dying Light 2 thanks to its somewhat mixed reception, which was rightfully earned by it taking some major departures from the successful formula of the first game. For this year’s Dying Light: The Beast, developer Techland went back to basics, deciding to focus more on the horror elements that the first game leaned much heavier into, easing back a bit on some of the role-playing mechanics, and putting players back into the shoes of original series protagonist Kyle Crane. The end result? Dying Light: The Beast feels like the “proper” sequel to the original Dying Light that players never got, and it also happens to be one of the year’s best and most underrated horror titles. You could definitely do a lot worse when it comes to finding a great open-world zombie hunting game.
Astro Bot
- Release Date — September 6, 2024
- Developer — Team Asobi
- Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
- Genre — Platformer
- Review Aggregate Score — 94% (Universal Acclaim)
- Price — $39.59 (Normally $59.99, 34% off)
It’s no secret that Astro Bot is one of the all-time greatest 3D platformers and one of the most essential exclusives on the PlayStation 5, which is part of the reason why it almost never goes on sale. So to see it get a massive 34% off discount and down to less than $40 is something worth celebrating. Astro Bot is as much pure joy distilled into an interactive experience as it is a video game, utilizing both the PlayStation 5 hardware and the DualSense controller in ways that other games should aspire to and setting a new gold standard for the old-school 3D platformer.
If Super Mario 64 is the first 3D platformer to really nail the format, then Astro Bot is the next major evolutionary step forward, and it’s an essential pick-up for any PS5 owner. You’re unlikely to have anywhere near as much fun with any other game as you will with Astro Bot.
Battlefield 6
- Release Date — October 10, 2025
- Developer — Battlefield Studios
- Publisher — Electronic Arts
- Genre — FPS
- Review Aggregate Score — 83% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $59.49 (Normally $69.99, 15% off)
In the almost annual battle between the Battlefield and Call of Duty franchises, it appears that Battlefield has definitively come out on top this year, courtesy of the excellent Battlefield 6. The campaign is mostly a throwaway experience that serves as a quick introduction to the mechanics and elements that you’ll be getting much more mileage out of in the game’s true highlight: the mutliplayer. And, boy, is the multiplayer in Battlefield 6 something worth experiencing. The Battlefield series has had a rough few years after the missteps made during Battlefield 2042‘s launch, but Battlefield 6 sees the franchise back on track and poised to stake its rightful claim as the king of online multiplayer military shooters. And if you waited to pick it up until now, you can get it for a nice 15% off discount.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows
- Release Date — March 20, 2025
- Developer — Ubisoft Quebec
- Publisher — Ubisoft
- Genre — Action-Adventure, Stealth
- Review Aggregate Score — 81% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $41.99 (Normally $69.99, 40% off)
At the end of the day, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is probably exactly what you think it is. But sometimes, that’s not a bad thing. If you enjoyed either Assassin’s Creed Origins or Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, but felt that the padding and absurd length of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was a little egregious, you’ll likely feel much more at home with Assassin’s Creed Shadows. It’s a tightly-paced and consistently enjoyable open-world action and stealth game with some fun combat that doesn’t ever wear out its welcome, and its emphasis on two characters with unique playstyles and gameplay advantages keeps the experience fresh throughout much of its duration. Shadows is a reminder of how great an Assassin’s Creed game can be when it keeps its focus honed in on the fundamentals.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
- Release Date — June 26, 2025
- Developer — Kojima Productions
- Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
- Genre — Action-Adventure, Stealth
- Review Aggregate Score — 89% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $49.69 (Normally $69.99, 29% off)
I think it’s safe to say that almost no one expected we would get a sequel to Kojima’s Death Stranding. But if Death Stranding 2 proves anything, it’s that not only did the original deserve a sequel, but we’re lucky to have gotten the one we did. Death Stranding 2 tackles some heavy and thought-provoking themes in a way that fans of Kojima have come to expect, but it backs up its impressive and engaging narrative with gameplay that’s noticeably more streamlined and accessible than the occasionally cumbersome systems and mechanics of its predecessor. Death Stranding 2 also puts Guerrilla Games’ Decima Engine to great use, delivering some of the most awe-inspiring visuals of any game in the PS5 library, especially when it’s running on a PS5 Pro.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
- Release Date — April 24, 2025
- Developer — Sandfall Interactive
- Publisher — Kepler Interactive
- Genre — RPG
- Review Aggregate Score — 92% (Universal Acclaim)
- Price — $39.99 (Normally $49.99
Fresh off its win of all 7 awards it was nominated for at the Golden Joysticks, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is down to its lowest-ever price on the PlayStation Store, with players now able to pick up what is easily 2025’s best game for just $40 instead of $50. What’s amazing about Clair Obscur is how unified the game feels in both its vision and its execution, every element so obviously painstakingly considered and blended with the others to create the kind of experience that only comes around every so often in the medium of video games. It’s no stretch to claim Clair Obscur as a prime example of games as art, and that it’s as fun to play and as hard to put down as it is thought-provoking, heart-wrenching, and memorable is just one more testament to its brilliance.
