The Best Deals to Grab on the PlayStation Store Summer Sale
The PlayStation Store Summer Sale kicked off this Wednesday, July 16, and is positively stacked with some eye-watering deals on some of the best PS4 and PS5 games. As is typically the case, the sale only runs for 2 weeks, at which point it’ll be replaced with the next PlayStation Store sales event. Until then, though, players have hundreds of titles to sift through if they’re hoping to cash in. We’ve gone ahead and highlighted 10 titles that are absolutely worth grabbing while the Summer Sale is active, including some all-time-low discounts on several first-party Sony exclusives — many of which rarely go on discount, and certainly not for as low as they currently sit.
Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut
- Release Date — August 20, 2021
- Developer — Sucker Punch
- Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
- Genre — Action-Adventure, Open-World
- Review Aggregate Score — 87% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $29.39 (Normally $69.99, 58% off)
With Ghost of Yotei just around the corner, there’s never been a better time to dive headfirst into Sucker Punch’s incredible Ghost of Tsushima. This gorgeous open-world action-adventure and stealth title is arguably one of the best games on the PlayStation, and its Director’s Cut version that includes the Ikki Island expansion and the excellent Legends multiplayer mode is down to its lowest ever price of just $30. There have been a handful of open-world games set in feudal Japan this generation, but none of them have the gameplay or storytelling chops to compare to Ghost of Tsushima.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero
- Release Date — October 11, 2024
- Developer — Spike Chunsoft
- Publisher — Bandai Namco Entertainment
- Genre — Fighting
- Review Aggregate Score — 81% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $48.99 (Normally $69.99, 30% off)
As hardware has gotten more powerful, fighting games based on the classic and iconic Dragon Ball Z series have only gotten closer and closer to perfectly replicating the show’s animation. Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is the newest DBZ fighting game and the most visually impressive, but it doesn’t rest on the laurels of its visuals. Instead, Sparking! Zero implements new mechanics, plenty of modes, and a better balance between fighters to see it transcend its predecessor, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and it’s currently at a rare 30% off discount.
Silent Hill 2
- Release Date — October 8, 2024
- Developer — Bloober Team
- Publisher — Konami Digital Entertainment
- Genre — Survival Horror
- Review Aggregate Score — 86% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $34.99 (Normally $69.99, 50% off)
Along with Resident Evil 2, Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 is a lesson in how a video game remake should be approached, updating just enough to feel like a new experience while also remaining incredibly faithful to the beloved original. In many ways, Silent Hill 2 might be the definitive version of the game thanks to how improved its combat is, and the subtle enhancements to the game’s dialogue, combined with greater quality voice acting and facial capture, make its affecting story hit that much harder. Silent Hill 2 is worth grabbing at full price, so picking it up at 50% off is a steal.
Lies of P: Overture Bundle
- Release Date — September 19, 2023 (Lies of P); June 6, 2025 (Overture)
- Developer — Neowiz, Round8 Studio
- Publisher — Neowiz
- Genre — Action RPG, Soulslike
- Review Aggregate Score — 80% – Lies of P; 83% – Overture (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $58.49 (Normally $89.99, 35% off)
The Overture expansion to Lies of P only just released a month ago, and it’s already on sale together with the base game. For roughly the same cost of buying Lies of P, players get the excellent Pinocchio-themed Soulslike along with its challenging endgame DLC, and together the package represents some of the best (and most challenging) gameplay the Soulslike genre has to offer. Make no mistake — Lies of P and Overture will chew you up and spit you out, but new difficulty options give players the chance to tweak the experience to their liking.
God of War Ragnarök
- Release Date — November 9, 2022
- Developer — Santa Monica Studio
- Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
- Genre — Action-Adventure
- Review Aggregate Score — 94% (Universal Acclaim)
- Price — $29.39 (Normally $69.99, 58% off)
The modern God of War games are some of the best titles to grace PlayStation hardware in the last 10 years, and God of War Ragnarök almost defies all odds by being even better than 2018’s God of War. Combat is improved, the open-world exploration and backtracking are more interesting and worthwhile, and the story is gripping, complete with some late-game twists that come out of nowhere and leave you reeling. Ragnarök doesn’t go on sale often, but players can currently grab it for just $30 as part of the PlayStation Store Summer Sale.
Ninja Gaiden II Black
- Release Date — January 23, 2025
- Developer — Team Ninja
- Publisher — Microsoft Game Studios
- Genre — Action
- Review Aggregate Score — 80% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $32.49 (Normally $49.99, 35% off)
The surprise reveal and shadow-drop of Ninja Gaiden II Black was a nice way to kick off 2025, especially for longtime fans of the series who lamented Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 being the only way to experience the 2008 classic on modern hardware. Ninja Gaiden II Black sits somewhere between the original Xbox 360 release of Ninja Gaiden II and the Sigma 2 rework, and it also features remastered Unreal Engine 5 visuals that look stunning. Ahead of Ninja Gaiden 4‘s launch later this year, it’s worth grabbing Ninja Gaiden II Black at 35% off to prepare and brush up on your skills.
Metaphor: ReFantazio
- Release Date — October 11, 2024
- Developer — Studio Zero, Atlus
- Publisher — Sega
- Genre — JRPG
- Review Aggregate Score — 94% (Universal Acclaim)
- Price — $41.99 (Normally $69.99, 40% off)
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 might take the cake as 2025’s greatest RPG, but last year that honor went to none other than Metaphor: ReFantazio, which is currently a whopping 40% off on the PlayStation Store. Imagine a Persona game mixed with Final Fantasy and you’re not far off from what Metaphor: ReFantazio brings to the table. It’s a game that fans of one or both of those franchises should not miss, especially not at its current price.
Alan Wake II
- Release Date — October 27, 2023
- Developer — Remedy Entertainment
- Publisher — Epic Games Publishing
- Genre — Survival Horror
- Review Aggregate Score — 89% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $23.99 (Normally $59.99, 60% off)
Remedy’s Alan Wake II is unmistakably a game to come from the Finnish studio, but it’s also one of the most visually impressive and genuinely frightening survival horror games of the last several years. Since its launch in 2023, Alan Wake II has gone on sale a few times, but never for as low as its current 60% discount, which brings the title down to just $24. The original Alan Wake is also on sale right now, giving you the chance to grab both games in the franchise for just $35 and experience one of the most original and captivating survival horror narratives.
Gran Turismo 7
- Release Date — March 4, 2022
- Developer — Polyphony Digital
- Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
- Genre — Driving/Racing, Simulation
- Review Aggregate Score — 87% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $29.39 (Normally $69.99, 58% off)
Here’s one we don’t see all that often — Gran Turismo 7 is currently at a massive 58% discount on the PlayStation Store, down to a historic low of just $30. Since launch, Polyphony Digital has put in some work to rebalance Gran Turismo 7‘s economy and progression curve, making it much more manageable to play the game and get the most out of it without having to ever spend real-world money, and it’s still hands-down the best (and best-looking) realistic driving simulator out there.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows
- Release Date — March 20, 2025
- Developer — Ubisoft Quebec
- Publisher — Ubisoft
- Genre — Action-Adventure, Stealth
- Review Aggregate Score — 81% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $52.49 (Normally $69.99, 25% off)
The latest game in the Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, is back down to its all-time low price of just $53, which is nice to see for a game that just launched in March. Shadows shares much more in common with the peak titles in the “new” lineage of Assassin’s Creed games, with much less bloat than Valhalla and an exciting campaign with worthwhile activities to pursue, like Origins or Odyssey. If you’re in the mood for a new Assassin’s Creed experience, you could hardly do better than Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
