The Best Games to Grab During the PlayStation Store Autumn Adventures Sale
Concurrent with some other sales happening on digital storefronts, the Autumn Adventures sale is live over at the PlayStation Store and features hundreds of deals on some incredible games. Worth noting, though, is that some of the best deals require players to have a PS Plus account, but there are still several great discounts to take advantage of even if you’re not a subscriber. Some of the more exciting deals to grab during the promotion are for newer games that just released this year, some of which are down to their lowest-ever prices. The following 15 titles are ones that we’d recommend picking up between now and when the Autumn Adventures sale ends on September 24.
Tomb Raider: Definitive Survivor Trilogy
- Release Date — January 28, 2014 (Tomb Raider); October 11, 2016 (Rise of the Tomb Raider); September 14, 2018 (Shadow of the Tomb Raider)
- Developer — Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal
- Publisher — Square Enix
- Genre — Action-Adventure, Stealth
- Review Aggregate Score — 85% (Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition); 88% (Rise of the Tomb Raider); 75% (Shadow of the Tomb Raider)
- Price — $12.49 (Normally $49.99, 75% off)
The “Survivor” trilogy of modern Tomb Raider games that began with 2013’s reboot is currently back down to its historically low price of just $12.49 for all three games, which is an absolute steal. The PS4 re-release of Tomb Raider, together with Rise and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, ranks among some of the best open-world action-adventure experiences of the 8th generation, and being able to get all three in a single go is a fantastic deal. Especially with a new Tomb Raider movie in the works and the series’ future in games uncertain, now is a great time to revisit or experience these modern classics for the first time.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
- Release Date — January 18, 2024
- Developer — Ubisoft Montpellier
- Publisher — Ubisoft
- Genre — Metroidvania
- Review Aggregate Score — 86% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $13.99 (Normally $39.99, 65% off)
Getting a AAA Metroidvania is increasingly rare in today’s gaming landscape, and it’s especially rare to get one so good that it immediately catapults to the top of the genre pile. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is precisely that — a big-budget Metroidvania with the production and marketing might of Ubisoft behind it, and it ended up being both one of 2024’s best games and one of the best modern Metroidvanias; easily ranking alongside Hollow Knight and Ori and the Will of the Wisps as one of the better new games in the genre. It’s currently just $14 for the standard edition, which players can add-on to with the excellent DLC for around $5.
Dragon Age: Inquisition – Game of the Year Edition
- Release Date — November 18, 2014
- Developer — BioWare
- Publisher — Electronic Arts
- Genre — RPG
- Review Aggregate Score — 89% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $9.99 (Normally $39.99, 75% off)
BioWare’s Dragon Age: Inquisition will always have a special place in the series as both the first game to ever win Game of the Year at The Game Awards and as the final game from longtime BioWare creative director Mike Laidlaw. It comes as no surprise, then, that Dragon Age: Inquisition is still the series’ high point more than 10 years later. The Game of the Year edition of Inquisition, which includes all additional post-launch content, is currently just $10, making it an essential pick-up for anyone who happens to have missed out on this generational RPG. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is also on sale at the PlayStation Store, but you’d be much better off picking up Inquisition.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin
- Release Date — March 18, 2022
- Developer — Team Ninja
- Publisher — Square Enix
- Genre — Action RPG, Soulslike
- Review Aggregate Score — 72% (Mixed or Average)
- Price — $15.99 (Normally $39.99, 60% off)
Square Enix and Team Ninja’s Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is a game that was practically destined to become a cult classic. It’s not quite enough of an RPG to appeal to the hardcore Final Fantasy fans, but it’s such a fantastic action RPG with deep loot pools and character customization that it ticks all the same boxes as Team Ninja’s other great Soulslikes (e.g., Nioh, Wo Long, etc.). Its story is also surprisingly great, going to some interesting places that recontextualize the events of the first Final Fantasy game once you get past the admittedly cheesy and meme-worthy beginning. That you can grab both the base game and the Season Pass for just $21 is amazing and highly recommended.
Persona 5 Tactica
- Release Date — November 17, 2023
- Developer — P-Studio, Atlus
- Publisher — Sega
- Genre — TRPG
- Review Aggregate Score — 75% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $17.99 (Normally $59.99, 70% off)
As far as tactics spin-offs of popular RPG franchises go, Persona 5 Tactica is one that doesn’t get nearly enough love. It seems like Tactica‘s release came and went without much fanfare, which is a shame when you consider that it does a great job translating the iconic “Press Turn” battle system from the Persona games into a solid turn-based tactical RPG. The story for Persona 5 Tactica is also surprisingly great, tying in characters both new and familiar into the series’ world and presenting some real stakes. If you’re a fan of tactics games and you’ve yet to pick this one up, right now is arguably the best time to grab Persona 5 Tactica while it’s less than $20.
Scarlet Nexus
- Release Date — June 25, 2021
- Developer — Bandai Namco, Tose
- Publisher — Bandai Namco
- Genre — Action RPG, Hack-and-Slash
- Review Aggregate Score — 80% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $8.99 (Normally $59.99, 85% off)
Scarlet Nexus is a game with big PS2 energy, and that’s meant entirely as a compliment. In an age where most action RPGs tend to skew heavily towards trying to be Soulslikes, getting a standard hack-and-slash game with some striking visuals, fun combat, and rewarding progression is almost a relief, and that’s exactly what Scarlet Nexus provides. Throw in some surprisingly great telekinetic abilities that can transform encounters into feeling like an anime version of Control, and you have a supremely underrated game on your hands. It might be a little short and thin at full price, but Scarlet Nexus is more than worth picking up at its current 85% discount.
God of War Ragnarök Digital Deluxe Edition
- Release Date — November 9, 2022
- Developer — Santa Monica Studio
- Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
- Genre — Action-Adventure
- Review Aggregate Score — 94% (Universal Acclaim)
- Price — $31.99 (Normally $79.99, 60% off)
2018’s God of War reboot was a fantastic rebirth of the franchise and Kratos, and Santa Monica Studio somehow outdid itself on the sequel, God of War Ragnarök. The story is bigger, better, and more exciting, including some profound growth between Kratos and his son, Atreus. Combat is better than ever, with a surprising variety of builds based on the impressive amount of armor and weapon modifications you can pick up. Exploration is fleshed out from the original, and the semi-open-world zones are rife with opportunity for revisiting and picking up previously inaccessible secrets. God of War Ragnarök is a near-perfect action-adventure game, and getting the Deluxe Edition at a massive 60% discount is a huge bonus.
Atomfall
- Release Date — March 27, 2025
- Developer — Rebellion Developments
- Publisher — Rebellion Developments
- Genre — Action-Adventure, Survival
- Review Aggregate Score — 74% (Mixed or Average)
- Price — $47.99 (Normally $59.99, 20% off)
This year’s Atomfall is yet another game that was practically destined to become a cult classic, in large part thanks to its unique setting and gameplay premise. Rather than hold players’ hands with a main quest and map markers, Atomfall sets you loose in a fictionalized version of the English countryside after an alternate history aftermath of a nuclear disaster. There are survival elements and a healthy amount of well-realized stealth mechanics, but Atomfall is almost a sort of 3D Metroidvania where, instead of acquiring equipment upgrades that grant access to new areas, you acquire new information and leads that further your investigations and open up new pathways of discovery. Atomfall is truly like nothing else out there, and it’s worth giving a shot.
The Last of Us Part I
- Release Date — September 2, 2022
- Developer — Naughty Dog
- Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
- Genre — Action-Adventure, Stealth, Survival Horror
- Review Aggregate Score — 89% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $29.49 (Normally $69.99, 57% off)
Out of the first-party Sony games that are on sale as part of the Autumn Adventures event, The Last of Us Part I is definitely near the top of the pile. Not only is Part I an impressive remake of one of the PS3’s best games, it’s currently down to its lowest-ever price of just $30, which makes it a lot more palatable to pick up than when it’s at full price. The Last of Us has been remastered so many times now at this point, but The Last of Us Part I does the best job of modernizing one of gaming’s more iconic experiences. And underneath all the new visual flair, it’s still the incredible game it’s always been.
Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition
- Release Date — September 19, 2023
- Developer — NetherRealm Studios
- Publisher — Warner Bros. Games
- Genre — Fighting
- Review Aggregate Score — 83% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $27.99 (Normally $69.99, 60% off)
Any time a new Mortal Kombat game comes out, it’s always advisable to wait until the release of some sort of “definitive” edition that includes all the post-launch DLC characters, and that time has come for Mortal Kombat 1. Since its initial release in 2023, Mortal Kombat 1 has added a slew of incredible DLC characters to its roster (including OmniMan from Robert Kirkman’s Invincible and the T-1000 from Terminator 2), and you can now grab the Definitive Edition that includes all of them plus the base game for less than $30. Even if you’re just a casual fighting game fan, it’s worth having at least one Mortal Kombat game in your library to marvel at how delightfully brutal they can be.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II – Gold Edition
- Release Date — February 4, 2025
- Developer — Warhorse Studios
- Publisher — Deep Silver
- Genre — RPG
- Review Aggregate Score — 88% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $53.99 (Normally $89.99, 40% off)
The third and final DLC for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II just released last week. To celebrate, Warhorse Studios and Deep Silver have put the Gold Edition of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II (which includes the base game and all three post-launch DLC expansions) on sale for a massive 40% discount. For less than the normal price of the game, you’re getting one of the year’s best RPGs along with all three of its excellent DLC expansions, making this one of the absolute best deals available as part of the Autumn Adventures sale.
Grand Theft Auto V
- Release Date — March 15, 2022
- Developer — Rockstar North
- Publisher — Rockstar Games
- Genre — Action-Adventure
- Review Aggregate Score — 97% (Universal Acclaim)
- Price — $19.79 (Normally $59.99, 67% off)
Despite being 12 years old at this point (if we’re counting the original PS3 and Xbox 360 release), Grand Theft Auto V continues to be one of the best-selling and most-played games across just about every digital storefront, and its PS4 and PS5 versions are once again on sale on the PlayStation Store. For $20, you get the entire single-player campaign of GTA V for both PS4 and PS5, along with access to GTA Online and an in-game cash card to use in getting your online crime career off the ground. With rumors that GTA VI might suffer yet another last-minute delay before its planned release next Spring, it could be a perfect time to dive into the next-best-thing.
Split Fiction
- Release Date — March 6, 2025
- Developer — Hazelight Studios
- Publisher — Electronic Arts
- Genre — Action Platformer, Co-op
- Review Aggregate Score — 91% (Universal Acclaim)
- Price — $44.99 (Normally $49.99, 10% off)
The Autumn Adventures sale on the PlayStation Store is running a sale on Split Fiction, matching the same discount that’s currently live over on Steam. It’s not a huge chunk off the normal asking price, but 10% off one of the year’s best games is still a better deal than paying full price. Much like Hazelight’s other games, Split Fiction is an unforgettable co-op experience that packs plenty of thrills into its runtime and continually wows from one segment to the next, making it a very safe pick-up for anyone who hasn’t played it yet. Plus, even though the game requires co-op, the ability to share a free copy with anyone makes it so that there’s really no excuse not to check it out.
Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut
- Release Date — August 20, 2021
- Developer — Sucker Punch Productions
- Publisher — Sony Interactive Entertainment
- Genre — Action-Adventure, Stealth
- Review Aggregate Score — 87% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $31.99 (Normally $69.99, 54% off)
We’re now about a month out from the release of Ghost of Yotei, and the Director’s Cut of Ghost of Tsushima is over 50% off in celebration. After releasing late in the PS4’s lifespan, Sucker Punch Productions went back and revamped Ghost of Tsushima for PS5 with the Director’s Cut version, which also includes the great Ikki Island expansion and the phenomenal Ghost of Tsushima: Legends multiplayer mode. It’s safe to say that Ghost of Tsushima is one of the best PlayStation exclusives and an incredible open-world game that’s absolutely worth grabbing for just $32.
DOOM: The Dark Ages
- Release Date — May 15, 2025
- Developer — id Software
- Publisher — Bethesda Softworks
- Genre — FPS
- Review Aggregate Score — 85% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $52.99 (Normally $69.99, 24% off)
One of the best and most exciting deals available right now on the PlayStation Store is for this year’s DOOM: The Dark Ages, which is down to an all-time low price of just $53. Even though The Dark Ages is arguably the weakest of the three modern DOOM games, it’s still an incredible FPS that introduces a whole slew of new mechanics — some of which land, while others kind of fall flat. But if you’re looking for a fast and furious FPS campaign that delivers a non-stop thrill ride and some hard-hitting combat, you could hardly do much better than DOOM: The Dark Ages, and you’ll likely not see it dip below its current sale price anytime soon.
